A Great Day at the RV Park

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 72 Lo 41 -- Cool start but it warmed up fast. I got my walk in with Ken and Cindy as they walked their dogs.

Cindy and I had discount coupons for Bealls, a local clothes department store, and it had to be used before 2:00 today so we took off to do some shopping. I couldn’t find a swimsuit I liked, but Cindy bought some sunglasses. But we didn't spend enough to use the coupon.  We stopped at Walmart for groceries and it was packed. We finally figured out that it was because of the Super Bowl. Everyone's stocking up on snacks.

When we got everything put away we all took off for lunch. There was a place downtown we wanted to try called The Depot, but it was closed. We went a little farther down Main Street to another restaurant called 18th Street East, and it was also closed. That's one downside of these great local places, many of them have strange hours. So we took Ken and Cindy to one of our favorite places, The Blue Lagoon, for some of their great wings. After lunch we stopped by Maxwell's Grove for some of their great orange ice cream. Yumm!

When we got back to the park the four of us played some shuffleboard. Ken and Cindy have never played, so Jim and I taught them how to play. What a fun time. The gals beat the guys :-)

We ended the day with a cookout. We took our big folding table and a couple of chairs over to Ken and Cindy’s rig so we could use their bigger grill. Ken cooked some steaks (and chicken for me) and we enjoyed dinner under their awning as the sun was setting.

We left dinner with full bellies and came over to our place for movie night. We watched The Three Stooges, which we had recorded on our DVR.

Another great day with our friends Ken and Cindy. They have to leave early tomorrow morning so we'll say our farewells tonight. We’re hoping to see them again this summer when we get to my sister's in Missouri. Thanks you two for coming down. What a great time!
