One of the Downsides of Living in an RV

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 80 Lo  73 -- When you live in a sticks and bricks house you know how when your spouse is sick one of you sleeps in the "other" bedroom? Well, in an RV there is no other bedroom. It was a rough night. Jim has the flu and was coughing all night so I moved to the living room. Our couch isn't long enough to sleep comfortable on, so I took the cushions off and laid them on the floor. I never dreamed it would be so noisy. There were a couple of windows open, which I didn't realize till this morning. At 4:30am a truck in the truck yard behind us dropped some kind of a huge load and it sounded like an explosion. The train went through several times, and trucks on Hwy 27 were really loud. In the bedroom we have a noise machine so we seldom hear much. I didn't sleep all night, so when Jim got up to come to the living room I went to the bed and tried to sleep a couple hours. Needless to say, I'm very tired today.

Hey, Jim here... it wasn't a picnic on my end either! At least you weren't sweating all night, and trying to get your achy muscles to calm down enough to lie in one position for more than 30 seconds. Not to mention the nausea, tickly throat, stuffed up head and runny nose. Have you every sneezed while wearing a CPAP mask? I'm telling you, it's NOT a pretty sight!

I didn't walk today, I felt to weak and tired. I did sit outside with Judy awhile later this afternoon. The technology club meeting was today so I sat in on that to see what's planned for the next few months. That's going to be a fun one. They have speakers coming in, and everyone shares knowledge about new technology. The hottest thing right now is Windows 8, which a few of the residents are learning. It's great seeing tech-savvy people over 50 learning about new technology.

Jim is feeling a little better tonight. We'll check the fever and maybe he'll be back to normal in the next day or two.  To answer a question:  yes, he's had his flu shot.

Hey girl...Sherri and I feel your pain. We have taken turns sleeping in the living room. Our sofa is rather large so we fit on it. We are coming to the end of this crud and we sure will be glad to get rid of it. Git well Jim.

We're over 50 and we don't even have a cell phone! And Ruth is still using XP and I'm using Vista. I guess we're not tech-savvy!

What the heck is a "noise machine"??

WE feel your pain about the second bedroom. We do have a long enough couch with a twin hide-a-bed. It is ok for one night but not more than that. Our blow up mattresses are just too hard for me to get up and down from. So far we have missed this flu gunk. It seems every volunteer in the park has had a bout of it. Some have had it more than once. Take care of yourselves.

Don't know about where you are, but the Noro Virus is hitting Oregon big time and it doesn't matter if you had the flu shot or not it seems. I do know about sneezing with a CPAP mask and you're right it's NOT pretty! My husband wears one and he has had is times of sneezing, coughing and a runny nose with that thing on! We are very careful to keep it clean and soaked regular with vinegar water too. Hope you get well soon so the both of you can have some good sleeps again.

Luckily we have a Lazy Boy recliner because Bob has to use it as part of his recovery from open heart surgery. We got a noise machine for the downstairs area of our Cameo. His three months are about up. Jo also used it for her recovery from back surgery. Not the ideal but we do have 2 separate sleeping areas.
