Panama City

(Destin, FL) Hi 82 Lo 75 – Today we headed to Panama City Beach to meet with JoAnn. We've been reading each others' blogs for quite some time. It rained off and on all the way on the one-hour trip. We arrived at Red Robin at about the same time as Joann and had a good lunch and a great visit. And after lunch she offered to show us her park model home about 20 minutes away. It's a beautiful home and gave us some ideas for when we settle down at the end of our full time journey. Thanks Joann for the visit, it was great to meet you.

After saying farewell to Joann we continued another 20 miles east to visit Tyndall AFB in Panama City. It’s a very nice base, and while there we checked out their famcamp. It's a nice park with quite a few trees, and we wouldn't mind staying there sometime in the future. We made a quick stop at the base exchange and bought a new camping chair to replace one of ours that's falling apart.

On the way home we stopped at Topsail Hills State park just east of Destin. Our friend Arlene worked there for a few years so we wanted to see it. We really like it. It has an RV "resort" as they call it, and it's one of the nicest campgrounds we've seen in a state park. We don't normally stay at state parks (usually too many trees), but we would enjoy staying at this one.

When we got back to Destin it was dinnertime, and Jim found a 'two-for-one' entree offer on his smart phone for the Marine Café. The place is right on the water and was very busy. The food was very good and we both enjoyed it. The prices were a little high, but since we paid for only one of the two dishes it was within our budget.

It was dark by the time we got back to the RV. It was great meeting with another blogging friend.

I met Doug and JoAnn back in 2009, and would love to see her again.

Topsail is really nice, we stayed there last January. You can walk or ride your bike to the beach parking area but they also have a tram that goes there quite often. The beach is beautiful.
