(Willis, TX) Hi 88 Lo 71 – We had a great day with Arlene. She joined us today for a trip to Livingston, TX to see Rainbow's End, the headquarters of the Escapees. Escapees is an organization for full time RV'ers. They have several RV parks around the U.S. In Livingston, along with a large RV Park and their national headquarters, they have a highly regarded mail service and the Escapees
Care Center, which is the RV equivalent of an independent living retirement home where the residents live in their own RV's and receive all their meals and other services for one monthly charge.
We took some photos around their large property.
The clubhouse area.
There's large book and video libraries.
Their Care Center is a very nice facility. Along with the residence program explained above, they also run an adult day care service. You can drop off an elderly relative and they'll watch and care for them for the day or half day. I wish mom was close, it would be perfect for her. They have plenty of activity rooms.
It was nice to see their facilities. You never know, we might be residents there someday.
We left there for downtown Livingston to meet for lunch with Charlie and Peggy at Shrimp Boat Manny’s. I’ve been chatting with Charlie in the RV-Dreams chatroom since June 2009. Charlie will be retiring in October and they plan to do a lot of traveling in their fifth wheel RV. It was so great meeting both of them.
We came back to our park and sadly said farewell to Arlene. We hope to see her in Florida this winter. As wonderful as it is to spend time with friends, it's always hard to leave them.
We stayed in the rest of the evening. It’s raining off and on and we’re loving the pitter patter on the roof. It's very relaxing.
