New Friends

(Mansfield, TX)  Hi 100 Lo 77 --  I worked on our budget for the month of August and we've done very well staying almost on budget. Staying at several military campgrounds helped us to compensate for the added sightseeing expenses. Now we start a new month.

We arranged to meet long time readers Serena and Rusty for lunch. Serena has been following us both on our blog and on Facebook. They live a couple of hours south of where we are, so we met them halfway in Ennis, TX.

We went to Bubba's Steak, BBQ, and Ribs in Ennis. It was a great meal and even greater conversation. They knew all about us because they've been following our blog since before we got on the road. They told us about their plans to go full time as soon as they sell their house. They used to own and operate a cafe, and Serena made two pies every day for their customers. She loves to cook and bake, so she surprised us today by bringing us not one, but two buttermilk pies. It's the first time we've heard of buttermilk pie, so when we got home we immediately had a slice. Oh, is it good! We put one of them in the freezer, but it may not be in there long enough to freeze.  :)

Thank you Serena, it was great to meet you and Rusty. We look forward to seeing you again down the road.

Jim watched baseball on TV in between naps, and I got some of my photos sorted and organized, then started packing up the RV for tomorrow's trip. We're moving only about 100 miles to Athens, TX for a couple days. We'll take our time in the morning.
