I took some pictures looking out our windows.
The building to the left is the office.
We had lunch today with Donell at a place on Gulfport beach. Donell has been part of the RV-Dreams chatroom off and on since 2007 when the chatroom was started. She lives about an hour away and drove down to meet us.
We had lunch at Cajun Crawfish Hut. I had a crawfish poboy and so did Donell, and Jim had a fried oyster poboy. We all loved the place. We ate on the deck, with a nice view across US 90 to the gulf.
It was so nice to meet Donell. Thank you so much for driving down!
After saying goodbye to Donell we headed east on US 90 to Biloxi to check out the area. Along the highway there are beautiful sculptures made from trees that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)
There’s lots of empty buildings and bare foundations where buildings and homes once stood. The cost of insurance has risen so much in this area that many of the properties were never rebuilt. The beach is still being cleaned up from the recent hurricane Isaac.
And there are large casinos all along US 90, especially in Biloxi.
Jim was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi in 1970 for technical training right after his basic training. I visited him while he was in training and we spent a couple of nights at the White House Hotel. The place is now closed and deteriorating badly.
There’s an art museum with some interesting geometric shapes to its architecture. I thought was interesting looking.
There are still plenty of beautiful large homes along the coast.
We had a great time checking out the area. We did a little shopping at a factory outlet mall in Gulfport, had a bite to eat, then came home in time for me to join the chat room. We had a wonderful day!

I love that area and the seafood is so good there. We also stayed at Shields last year.
Thanks for posting a picture of Donell. It is nice to put a face to the words in the chat room.
I expect you two had a great time.

That tree art is gorgeous and so unique. Nice that something so beautiful could be made out of the ruins.
Galveston did the same thing with their downed trees:
