Today we went to Natalie and John’s at 11:30. Their neighbors Pat and Carla own a pontoon boat and invited us out for a day on Cedar Creek Reservoir, a 13 mile long man-made lake. We started out near the south end and had fun exploring some of the fingers and coves.

Both couples have beautiful houses right on the lake. We got our food and drinks loaded onto the boat and shoved off from Pat and Carla's backyard dock.

Natalie, John, Carla and Dee.
Pat and Carla, with Jim barely in the picture on the right.

We went under the Hwy 198 bridge.

We saw a lot of big, fancy lakeside houses along the way.

The lake level is a little lower than normal and Pat had to keep a close eye on his depth finder to avoid running aground, especially near the shore. Still, we hit bottom a few times, but not serious enough to hurt anything.
It was hot but we had a nice breeze. We stopped in the middle of the lake and drifted with the breeze while we had our lunch of sandwiches and fruit. It was quiet and we were the only ones around, except for a gal who rode up on a jet ski asking for directions.

We got back to the dock around 3:30. It was a very fun and pleasant day. Jim grew up around boats, and he comes from a family of North Carolina seafarers. He said today made him a little homesick. :) Thanks Pat and Carla for a wonderful day on the water!
After saying farewell to Pat and Carla we went back to John and Natalie's and visited for awhile, then came home to our cool RV. Thanks John and Natalie for your hospitality. It was great to see you again, and we look forward to our next get together.
I have to add one more picture. I saw this while leaving the park this morning. (Click the picture to make it larger.)
We’ll be moving to Austin in the morning.

What a perfect day! Love any day on the water :)
A group of us in AZ have talked about renting a pontoon for a day and having a picnic on the water. Your post just made it a more definite thing. How fun. And 195! NASCAR here we come.
It was so good to see you guys and so much fun to remember the good ole days in Illinois. Our door is always open and we hope you come back again soon. Springtime is really a good time to visit to see all the wildflowers. You could also plan to come when we can go to Canton First Monday. It is always the weekend before the 1st Monday of the month.
We need to set up skype when you get here, is that what you all used when communicating w/ Doris and Vina? Any how, sounds like you r having a great experience.. love yu and cannot wait till you get here... sis Sharon
