Waiting All Day - Last Ballgame

(Joliet, IL) Hi 88 Lo 68 -- We had planned on son Rick and grandson Jack visiting us today, but Rick had to wait for a call saying his car was ready at the dealer so he could go pick it up. It wasn't ready until too late for him to visit. :(  So all we did today was wait, while doing our normal computer and TV watching.

I won't have to do much packing for our trip Wednesday. We never got much out during our stay here. Jim went to fuel up his truck and get one of our propane tanks re-filled. This was our first propane re-fill since January. It's great to be in a warm area in the winter so we don't use much propane. Jim also checked the tires and everything seems in order to head out on Wednesday.

We both read the blogs of a couple of our friends who are out in Colorado where the wildfires are happening. It's really getting serious out there! That's where we're headed so we're keeping an eye on the news. We won't be there for another month, so hopefully everything will be contained by then.

We left just after 5:00 for our grandson's baseball game. It's the last one for us. He's doing very well in both hitting and fielding.

Jack playing at shortstop.

Up to bat.

He usually gets a hit on the first pitch.

And there he goes!

The kids played well, but lost by two runs. After the game we went to White Castle for dinner. For the record it was Jack's choice. Believe it or not I've never been to White Castle. Jim and Rick had a couple dozen sliders between them. (Just kidding, but not by much!) I had a chicken ring sandwich. They make chicken rings, which look like onion rings. Put a couple of them on a small bun and you have a chicken ring sandwich. It was pretty good, but I don't think White Castle will replace Culver's as our favorite fast food.

We're going to the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry tomorrow. So stay tuned for lots of pictures in tomorrow's blog.
