Summer Plans -- Ice Cream Social

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 82 Lo 65 -- It was very windy today. Our awning was flapping around a lot when we got up this morning so we brought it in.

I got up about the same time Jim did this morning. After a big breakfast we were back at the computer. Jim finished our tentative route for our summer travels. Our general direction will be north, then west. We'll be in the midwest from late April through mid-June for family commitments, then we plan to head west to see Wyoming and Colorado. We'll wind our way back east through Oklahoma, Texas, and along the Gulf states, and back up to North Carolina to see Jim's family. After than it will be South Carolina for the "Carolina Clan" rally in early November, then back to Florida for the winter. Sure sounds fun, and we're both looking forward to getting back on the road. Only about six weeks to go!

It's all over the news about gas prices going up. We're keeping an eye on it, but we won't let higher fuel prices keep us from traveling. We knew when we started this lifestyle that fuel prices would be a large part of our expenses. The only change I can see us making is we may stay in place longer at times, but we won't stop traveling. No way!

I finally defrosted the freezer. It's been awhile since I've done it and the ice had really caked up. I haven't gone grocery shopping for a while, we're trying to use up everything before I do. That's one way to have less weight in the RV, and for us NOT to have food around to eat between meals.

We had rain off and on today, but not much. Everything dried out really fast with the high winds. In between showers we walked to the clubhouse for an ice cream social. We sat with people we knew and talked about RV'ing. We came back home and we did nothing the rest of the afternoon.

This afternoon we watched the qualifications for next Sunday's Daytona 500. Last night's Budweiser Shootout had a lot of wrecks, so we're a little anxious about next week's 500. They only had 25 cars in last night's race, and they were the top drivers. What's it going to be like next week when there's almost twice as many cars, and a lot of inexperienced drivers? It should be wild! We'll get a preview this Thursday when they run the Gatorade Duels. Can't wait!

PLEASE get rid of your word verification ~ the new style is a pain in the eyes... lol it took me about 4 times to get it right!

I so agree with squawmama - please do away with your word verification. It takes several tries to get any comments posted. And a lot of us will give up.

I really hope that the 500 goes better than the shoot out. I decided I couldn't be married to a driver. I was a wreck until they said Jeff was okay.

we are both NASCAR fans as well. Enjoyed the Bud Shootout. The Gateraide Duels are this Thursday so if they don't stop the tandum drafting we may see somemore big wrecks. We are planning on a trip out west this fall. Maybe we will run into you guys out there.
