Visit From RV-Dreamer Friends

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 76 Lo 53 -- I didn't get to bed until about 1:30 this morning, so I slept until 9:30 to get my "required" eight hours of sleep. RV-Dreamers Kevin and Arlene drove down from Clermont, about an hour and a half north of here. We met Kevin and Arlene in 2008 at the RV-Dreams Rally in Branson, MO. We last saw them in the fall of 2010 at the Escapees Rally in Goshen, IN.

They arrived about 11:30. We sat and visited for awhile, then went to lunch at the Blue Lagoon, a local sports bar that has great wings. The service was slower than usual, probably because of the large groups of women that were on a "girls day out." The were loud and boisterous. The whole place seemed really busy and loud for a Monday. But the wait for our food was worth it because it was excellent!

After lunch we stopped at Maxwell's Groves for some of their wonderful orange ice cream. Here's a view of just some of the jams and jellies they sell.

When we got back to the park I took Arlene on a tour of our clubhouse and pool while the guys stayed back at the rig. Inside the clubhouse they were having an oil painting class.

Arelene has been a member of the RV-Dreams chatroom since 2007. Our neighbor Elaine is also a regular in the chatroom, so we walked down to her place so she and Arlene could meet each other.

They wanted to beat the Orlando rush hour traffic so they left around 3pm. We really enjoyed their visit. They're moving over to the St. Petersburg area next week, so we may get to return the visit during one of our trips to Tampa.

The rest of the afternoon we rested, and I got hooked on a movie called "American Nomads." It's a full-length movie about people without permanent homes who travel the country. It covers all social and economic classes, and it was very entertaining. If you're interested it's available online at this link:

I will warn you that there's some rough language in a few parts.

We had a bite to eat before going to the clubhouse for an evening of card games. It's a fun way to meet some new friends and have a few laughs.

I agree big breakfasts are the best. If mine is big enough I wont need to eat rest of the day.

Jim's Aunt and Uncle look the same age as me, hard to believe they are old enough, but then my father was 6 when his aunt was born....they was weird for him.
