Checking Out Clubhouse Activities

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 78 Lo 61 --  Jim got on the phone today to see about getting a Sunblocker screen for our awning. He wasn't able to find one at any RV dealer around. He even tried a couple of Camping World's within two hours of us. So he went ahead and ordered one online from Camping World. It ended up cheaper and there was no shipping charge. It should be here in a couple of weeks. Jim worked on setting up the new table and put out our mat and chairs. Now we're all setup, so it'll probably rain soon. :)

I worked on the budget and setting up the new Excel spreadsheets for 2012,  then went to the clubhouse to see what's going on for the month. We already missed a couple activities. There was a salad potluck and a pizza night. We have to keep track what day it is or we'll be missing even more functions.

I noticed there were several people in the pool and saw that the calendar that said there was a pool party from 3-5pm. It was 2:30, so I did my walk around the park, came back to the RV, changed clothes and Jim joined me and we went to the clubhouse. There were several people sitting AROUND the pool, but no one was IN the pool.  They swim earlier, then they all gather around for chit-chat and ate finger foods. We met everyone there and a few of them were from my home area of northern Indiana. What a great friendly group! One couple is full time and they go back and forth between Ohio and Florida and see states in-between. They've been on the road nine years and plan on many more.

The pool party is every second Thursday of the month, and yes it's year round.

Everyone brings finger foods. I'll take some next time.

It was a very comfortable 81 degrees, and the pool would have felt really good because the water is heated to 86 degrees. They cover it at 5:00 every night and open it at 7:30 each morning.

Everyone left at 5:00. There's an American Legion in Avon Park that some of the couples go to for dinner on Friday nights. We also learned there's a bowling league, golf matches and about anything else you can think of around the area. There's plenty to do and we'll start getting really active in the next few weeks.
