Back to Daily Reports

(Avon Park, FL)  Hi 75 Lo 53 -- Jim and I put a lot of work into our last two "recap" posts. Hopefully we covered all the highlights in our second year of travels. It will be great reading it a year from now. We're now starting all over with info and pictures for next year.

I'll go back to Friday and Saturday and tell what we did. People here in the park are so friendly! Our biggest challenge has been trying to remember everyone's name. There's a group called the Happy Hookers that meets at the clubhouse on Fridays. It's not what you think. It's all about knitting and crocheting. I didn't get to go this past Friday but I definitely want to add it to my activity list.

Friday night we went with a group to the local American Legion post. It was their fish fry night, and it was was very good. We had 16 people in our group and we haven't laughed so hard in a long time. One of the couples is from North Webster, Indiana, which is very close to my hometown of Warsaw. They knew my mom and dad many years ago when my dad had his TV repair business. It's truly a small world, and when your home has wheels it only gets smaller.

The name sign we had for the front of the RV was in bad condition from being out in the weather. A neighbor down from us is always out making something with wood, so I asked him to make us a new sign. I didn't expect it right away, but about two days later he brought it to us. I think he did a fine job! Thanks Tom.

We received the sunblocker we ordered for our awning and installed it a couple of days ago. We love it. It reduces the heat and glare of the sun just enough to make it more comfortable when we sit outside.

Looks like Jim is more "comfortable"

Our setup with the new Sunblocker.

Today we both did our walk around the park, then Jim watched football while I chatted and worked with Google+. It's a nice program and works with my Android smartphone real well. I'm trying to figure out how to take pictures and have them go directly to Google+. I'll get it figured out.

It's going to be a fun packed week coming up.

Friday's park activities:  Tennis, shuffleboard, aquacise, light aerobics, rug runners, wood carving, happy hookers, dominoes, tai chi, pepper and poker games in the evening.

The sunblocker makes your patio area seem more like a little room too, doesn't it?? After seeing your lists of daily activities available in the park, I have to say that no one should ever be bored. Exhausted, maybe, but never bored. :)

You keep this up and you're not going to have time to blog. But at least they keep you out of trouble. Love the sun screen and Jim enjoying it.

You sure are busy. I like your sign and I'm glad it's warm enough for that sunblocker to be needed.

Sign looks great! Eldy is from North Webster! He lived there for 23 years. We're looking at Florida parks for Feb. and March and hope to check out Adelaide Shores. Sounds like a very nice park from your descriptions.

I have no idea what pepper is, some kind of game, but we'll find out before long.

We also have a 2010 Cameo and the same awnings and wonder how the sunblocker works in the wind.
