Windy Day

(Mayport Naval Station, Jacksonville, FL)  Hi 62  Lo 54 -- It was windy all night and we rocked and rolled, but not nearly as bad as in Beaufort, NC a couple of weeks ago. The wind continued all day today, and with the temperature in the low 60's it was just not a pleasant day.

I spent the morning on the PC. It's amazing how fast the time goes when you're surfing the web. For lunch we went to our favorite local seafood restaurant, Safe Harbor Seafood Market. They have the best seafood around, and also have a fresh fish market on-site. I bought several types of fish fillets for the freezer.

Due to today's high winds the local shrimp boats never left the docks.

After lunch we came home and stayed in the rest of the day. We watched the movie "Sherlock Holmes" on our DVR. Very entertaining and well made. It's amazing how modern movies depict the time periods they're set in. This one was London in the 1800's, and it looked very realistic. The sequel will be in theaters soon so we'll probably go see it on one of our movie days.

It looks like this wind may last another night, then better weather should be here for the weekend.

Thanks for the tip for fresh fish. We are on the opposite side of the country at NAS, El Centro, CA and the wind is howling and rocking us. We are planning to be in Mayport about mid January.
