Beautiful Trip South

(Dillon, SC)  Hi 73 Lo 46 -- It was a gorgeous morning to get ready for our move South. The sun was out and it got warm, still breezy but nothing like it has been this week.

We were on our way by 10am. We're just across the street from the North River and it's been fun watching how close the water comes to our RV. The closest it got was to the edge of the road on the first night when there was a full moon.

Here's the river at low tide...

And here it is at high tide.

Our site just before we left this morning.

It was a very smooth trip. We took US Highway 17 to Wilmington, NC, and then US 74/76 west to I-95 and into South Carolina. All four lane and very little traffic. The fall colors were beautiful.

We arrived at Bass Lake RV Park in Dillon, SC at 2:30pm. This is one of the first parks we stayed at on our first trip to Florida in March 2010 (when we attended the RV Driving School). The owners had just bought it and had some big ideas for improvements and upgrades. They've done a great job as the park is much nicer now than it was then. All the sites are pull-thrus and full hookups.

Some of the trees separating the park from Bass Lake.

This is an interesting home-made wood travel trailer. We're hoping to meet the owner(s).

Bass Lake. According to a posted sign there's an alligator in it somewhere. All I saw was a little snake swimming around.

After our little walk around the park I made some dinner, and then we settled in for the evening. We plan to get out tomorrow and do some sightseeing.
