Still Organizing the Apartment

(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC)  Hi  81 Lo 64 -- It's rained the past couple of days so it's been gloomy,  warm and humid. We started the day by visiting mom at the rehab center. When we got there she was in occupational therapy. She goes through exercises to see how she can maneuver and work with her hands. The RN also arranged to have her fitted for a brace for her back, and that should be in tomorrow. The therapist then took mom outside to teach her how to get into our car with her walker. She did a great job! We now feel good about driving her to her new home on Friday, which we're all looking forward to.

We left there and ate lunch then went to the apartment to do more organizing and getting ready rid of things. It's a long process and we felt a little overwhelmed, but by the end of the day we had made good progress. We're just glad we're not any older... it's hard work!  :)  Mom has a ton of crafts and every time we thought we had a space cleared out more stuff would show up. Tomorrow some friends from mom's church are coming to take some things, and in a few days we're going to have an apartment sale. Then hopefully it will all be over.

We stopped for pizza for dinner and came home and crashed. The State Fair starts tomorrow. Every RV space in the fairgrounds is occupied, all the rides on the midway are lit up with colorful lights, and there's a feeling of excitement in the air! We're hoping to spend a couple of days at the fair next week. That sounds like fun!

wow you are definitely making progress..its all coming together...your moms new place looks and sounds great...I think your assisted living is like our 'special care homes'...mom had a roommate also..I wasn't too struck on the roommate thing at first..but once they explained it to me I was happy..it keeps them social and interactive...mom was almost deaf her roomie Rita had short term memory loss so mom was her memory and Rita was mom's ears lol...they were so cute together...glad to hear that your mom is improving daily!!

Glad things are coming together for you all. Sounds like your mom is doing better and will be ready for the move.
What about your sister??? Does she not want any of your mom's things??
Take care and make sure you guys get some rest too.
Hugs!!

Mac and Netters: My sister helped pack her in Indiana so she got everything she could use when she moved. I can't put anything in the RV and most of the stuff she has was from us to hold.

Now this is an order. You take a couple of days and go to that fair. You deserve (and need) to have some fun time. Unwind and things wont see so daunting, right now you are emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted.
I know after years of service Jim knows how to take orders.....So
you have to follow my executive order. :-)

I agree with Donna W - you definitely need to carve out some time for fun and/or rest. Sounds like it is coming together so you should be able to do this!! And so glad that is seems your Mom is improving!
