(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC) Hi 61 Lo 47 -- It got COLD overnight, but this is the time of year it's hot one minute and freezing the next. It was a whirlwind day. I was restless all night long so it was fairly easy to get up early. We got to mom's apartment at 9:30 and our friend Clara met us there to help us get everything ready for the room sale. I didn't know what to expect, but there were several people waiting in the hallway when we opened the door at 10am. Quite a few folks came by to look over and buy some of mom's things. The things I thought would go fast didn't sell, and some of the stuff I never thought would go sold right away. You just never know.
Everything was over in about an hour, so we started putting everything in boxes and loaded it up in Clara's husband Jim's truck to take to Dorcas Community Ministries, a local faith-based assistance organization that helps the homeless and other people in need. I really like the work they do. We were done by 12:30 and the four of us went to Jersey Mike's for lunch.
Mom had her first of many specialty doctor appointments today. Today was a Nephrologist (kidney doctor). We learned so much from the doctors when we saw them at the hospital. I learned even more today. I found out that one of the pills mom is on (HCTZ) causes decreased kidney function over long term use. That caught my attention because I take HCTZ too.
After taking mom home we came home and I cooked dinner for the first time in a while. It was good to have a home cooked meal, even though it was leftovers.
Tomorrow I'm bringing mom back to her old apartment to pick out the best of her craft making materials to keep. It's going to be a rough day. I'm not sure how she'll take it emotionally when she sees her empty apartment, with most of her stuff gone. But it has to be done. She has too many craft supplies to take to her home. The worst is over. She's settling in well and doing better physically but still suffers back pain.

haha We have been having just about the same temps, but I was just saying in my blog today how WARM it has been these days and nights.
Glad that your mom is doing well and settling in. :)
you're right, she is probably going to get pretty emotional when she see the empty apartment, its one thing to mentally know it and another to see it. But like everything else she'll come thru w/flying colors.
Take care and stay strong
