Getting Ready for the "ROOM" Sale

(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC)  Hi 85 Lo 61 -- I got up early and got to mom's apartment. I had a couple other gals help me organize mom's living room for the "room" sale we're doing on Thursday. The residents of the apartment building mom has lived at for the past few years will be buying the little stuff. It took about three hours to get it done, but we have everything organized.

We're ready! While I was at the apartment, Jim did the laundry. After that I had him go back to the apartment with me to take out bags of trash and load the car for me so I can make a trip to mom's tomorrow morning. We then called some friends and went out to eat. There's a rain storm coming so we cut dinner a little short and headed back home before the rain got to us. We look forward to the fireworks every night at 9:45. They're very pretty and loud, and we can watch them out the window of our rig.

Mom called later and said she talked to the activities director, who was excited about mom's card making and stamping crafts, and wants her to bring it all so she can help teach some classes. They'll find a place to keep it for her. So we'll take all that to her in the next couple of days. Everything is almost done, and we did it in three weeks. We're still on schedule for leaving on the 31st.

That's neat that your Mom will be teaching some craft classes. How fun for her. Good luck with the sale. I hope it all goes.

The best part of moving to a senior living center is that it brings more people into their lives. Social isolation is a terrible thing and I know my mother has more friends now than she ever had in her previous residence. The crafting classes will give your mom purpose and introduce her to so many new friends!!

Wow, you guys are amazing to have accomplished so much in just 3 weeks. Hooray for your mom, but she will get a real kick out of teaching a class. That sort of thing is so good for the ego and self-worth,
