Finally Have a Move-In Date for Mom

(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC) Hi 68 Lo 64 -- Today was rush to here and rush to there. Our first stop was at our doctor's for our physicals. All our tests came out quite well; some of the readings even improved since our last physicals. Our lifestyle seems to agree with us, and we've come a long way in becoming more healthy.

Our next stop was to pick up my new glasses that I ordered last week. I went from tri-focals to bi-focals. I'm still trying to get use to them. I can't see the computer as well because I dropped the middle part of the lenses which was for computers, so I have to bring the computer up closer. My distance vision is fine, but what's really better is reading. We went to lunch and I could read the menu for the first time in a long time without removing my glasses. I'll give it some time to see just how much of a problem it will be to read the computer.

The next stop was Carillon Assisted Living in Fuquay-Varina. They were finally satisfied with all the information they got from mom's doctor, so all we had to do was sign all the paperwork. We got to see mom's room and get an idea of how much room she'll have for her stuff. The room is currently empty. She'll have a roommate later, but for now she gets first choice of beds. She gets to move in this Friday. We're so excited!

We're hoping to put a cabinet or bookshelf at the end of the bed for her card making craft supplies. One of the green chairs will be removed and we'll bring in her favorite chair from the apartment.

We were so excited to get that part of the process settled. Now we can move forward everyday to get the apartment cleaned out. I have some ideas on how, so we're hoping it all goes in a couple weeks. Next week we'd like to go to the fair and have some downtime.

We stopped at mom's on the way home to give her the good news. She's elated and that will relieve her mind on where she'll be going. She's doing so well from what she was like last week. She's walking better her back is getting better and she has less pain when getting up from the bed and to the chair. They've done well in bringing her back to almost normal. She'll walk with a walker, but doesn't need a wheelchair. We're proud of her. I feel comfortable putting her in an assisted care rather then the independent living. She won't have to worry about meals and she'll have someone around. We're very happy tonight. Tomorrow we will see how mom can get into a car and practice for the move on Friday.

Looks like a lovely home for your Mom. Aside from the beautiful surroundings, she'll have companionship and be with people her own age. That's what I want if I live long enough to need assisted living.

I'm really glad your mom is doing better and that things are falling in place. Some down time at the Fair sounds like a good idea. Enjoy some sinful food.

You two have done an awesome job getting things right for your mom!! She is very fortunate to have your help. Glad her health is improving and she is looking forward to her new home.

Also glad your to hear you two are getting healthier... So be sure to continue to take care. These last few weeks have been very stressful. Definitely sounds like you need some NC Fair time;o))

Really good news about your mom and yours & Jims check ups. Way to go....Definitely go to the fair, you both have been pushed so much lately, so what's another day....go to the fair, eat some junk, laugh alot, you watch the good looking cowboys and Jim can watch the horses , and just unwind
You deserve it.
