(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC) Hi 71 Low 46 -- This was a busy day! I left around 11am to have lunch with my friend and ex-workmate Neta. It was fun talking girl talk over lunch and bringing each other up to date on our activities during the last six months. While I was at lunch Jim took his truck in for an oil change. After lunch I went to mom's apartment to clear out the last few things and give it a good cleaning for the turn-in inspection later this week. Mom's good friend Laura, who lives in the building, met me there to help with the cleaning. She used to clean houses professionally, so having her help really made things easier. Jim joined us after his oil change to do the heavy lifting... taking things out to the dumpster, run some things to the local recycling center (the new name for the city dump), and take a few more items to Dorcas Community Ministries.
We finished up around 4pm. The place really shines, and it's SO good to have it done! I want to give a big thank you to Laura for her help today, and also to Jim and Clara, who helped us sort through a lot of stuff during the past couple of weeks. Their kind help and support really helped us to cope with all this, and without them we would have been overwhelmed.
All that's left now is to get the rest of mom's craft supplies to a friend's house where they'll be stored for a while. I think it will help mom make the emotional transition if she knows the rest of her craft supplies are still available to her.
After dinner I walked down a few sites and visited with Jill and Paul and made arrangements for dinner together tomorrow evening. Jim's watching the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game on TV. Things are winding down for our last week here in Raleigh. We're starting to get that little itch that only the hitch can fix. :)
