A Day at Quincy

(Scott AFB, IL) Hi 70  Lo 46 – We got up early (but after the sun was up) to make our way to Quincy, IL to visit Cindy and Ken. I met Cindy on the RV-Dreams chatroom four years ago, then we met them both in person at the RV-Dreams rally in South Carolina in April 2010. We got to their place around 11:00. After getting caught up with each others' lives, they took us on a tour of downtown Quincy and around the area. There are some beautiful big homes from the early 1800’s. We visited Washington Park, where one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates took place in 1858.

Ken and Cindy live right on Westview Public Golf Course, and the view out their back door is spectacular.

I have never been on a golf course, so Ken walked me around a couple of fairways and greens. My favorite part of the course is where they wash their balls. :)

We went out to eat Jimbeanas, a local diner, for fish and gumbo. It’s a great place to eat. Thanks Ken and Cindy for dinner tonight.

When we got back, we played the card game Hand and Foot. It's a fun game that we learned at the Escapees Rally last fall. Cindy and Jim won.

What a wonderful day it was with our good friends. It’s getting late so we’ll have more to report tomorrow.
