Iowa, New State for Tumbleweed

(Iowa City, IA) Hi 98 Lo 73,  HOT and HUMID --  It looked like it might rain on the trip today but it didn't.  We went almost the whole length of Iowa, north to south. It's flat but the cropland we passed is very beautiful. The traffic was light and it was a smooth trip. We stopped a couple of times and each time it got hotter. The AC in my car was working hard to cool it down. As we got closer to Iowa City it got less flat with more trees and a few little hills.

We arrived at the CORALVILLE LAKE, IA,  DAM COMPLEX It's our first COE (Corps of Engineers) park. We had to negotiate one winding road to get to our campground (there are five campgrounds in the whole complex). But it wasn't much of a problem. We couldn't find where the water stand was to fill our fresh water tank. We asked another RV'er and she said it was way back up at the top of the winding road we just came down. But Jim found a spigot on the side of the bath house next to the water fountain, so we ran our 50-foot hose and filled from there. Jim backed in the RV without any problems. We're right on a branch of Coralville Lake, a little ways down from the dam. There's a boat ramp here at the park. It sure is pretty here.

We're going to be here six days.  There's a few things we're going to see around the area.
I just hope it cools down.

That is a beautiful campground. COE parks are our absolute favorite :) Sorry about the heat. It was only in the 80's in Wis today but the humidity was still in the 90+% range. Hope it changes for all of us soon. Enjoy your stay.

Absolutely love COE parks. They are always on water. And, when you reach age 62 and purchase your $10 "American the Beatiful" pass, you will only pay 50% of the regular camping fee. AND, you get in free to National Parks, and National Monuments. We just went to Mt Ranier for free. National Forest campgrounds are also ncluded in the 50% discount. We usually only pay $9-$12 for electric and water.
