(Harris, MI) Hi 86 Lo 68 – Rain, that’s what we had when we left the park around 9:30 this morning. We managed to get hitched up before it started, but just as we pulled out of the dump station it rained very hard for quite a few miles. It finally cleared up, but then it got hot and humid. It’s only going to get hotter as we travel more south. The trip was very smooth after the rain quit. We traveled across the Michigan upper peninsula (or U.P.) and it's all trees and forests, with the occasional small town. We pulled into the RV park at the Island Resort & Casino in Harris, MI. We made a stop here so we could visit with some RV'ing friends from nearby Norway, MI. We'll have more about that in tomorrow's blog.
This is our first stay in a casino RV park, and this one is very nice. It's made up of two separate loops, each surrounded by trees. But the sites themselves are very open, so Jim was able to get our satellite dish set up ok. There's no park wi-fi, but we have good Verizon 3G signal so we can tether our Droids for internet. So we're fully connected to the world.
Bath house and laundry
We ate dinner at the restaurant in the casino, which very good, then played a few games of video poker. We’re not gamblers so we won’t be spending much time in the casino.
We settled in for the night, looking forward to a great day tomorrow with a special couple.
