Preparing to Move

(Wauchula, FL) Hi 87 Lo 68 -- I had a very good nights sleep, finally no interruptions from sneezing.

We spent a couple hours in the morning doing our routine of blogs, emails, and news, then went to work to get ready for our move Wednesday morning. It's supposed to be stormy tomorrow so we wanted to get started today. I started in the bedroom, which I knew would be quick.  I haven't moved much in that area and haven't added anything, but I did have to reorganize the overhead compartment where I keep my t-shirts. I have so many t-shirts that I have to straighten them up about once a month. For some reason Jim keeps his t-shirt area very organized all the time. Hmmm...

The large wardrobe area where the washer and dryer would be (if we had them) was a big problem. We've been here in one place for so long that I'd get something out then just put it back but on top of everything. I had to re-pack the stuff in the large tubs and get them so they didn't move. Then to the rear overhead cabinets above the couch.  I keep adding craft things since I now have started doing string art. I've thrown so many things up there that there's a good chance that things would come out if we hit a bump. It's now all stowed securly in tubs. Tomorrow I'll work on organizing all the kitchen cabinets and the refrigerator. I've already had dreams about the refrigerator door coming open and everything flying out.  I doubt if that would ever happen, but I want to make sure it doesn't.

Jim in the meantime was doing his outside stuff.  He topped up all 14 tires with air (6 on truck, 4 on trailer, and 4 on car), and re-mounted and programmed the Pressure Pro monitors on the truck and trailer. He went up on the roof to do an inspection, cleaned all the hoses, and stowed the chairs and grilling table. He'll empty and do a complete back-flush of both the black and gray tanks tomorrow evening. He drained the fresh water tank and re-filled it to about 1/3 full. We like to keep some fresh water in the tank at all times. It's been 2 1/2 months since we've hitched up, so he pulled the head off our fifth wheel hitch and lubed all the sliding parts inside.

Sorry for all the boring details, but at least you get an idea of what we go through when we get ready to move. We're having to do more now because of how long we've been in one place. Things are easier to get ready when we move more often. I'm so excited! I show excitement more than Jim, but he doesn't mind. He knows I'm happy when I'm excited. :)  We're going to try to get out of the habit of making reservations this summer. We plan to have two campgrounds picked out on our route, one as a primary and one as a backup, and see how that works.

Jim relaxed with a beer while I played my last game of shuffleboard. Maybe next year I'll get better at it, but it sure is fun.  Tonight is my last time to be with the gang to play the card game Thirty-One.

ONE more day till we head North.

I love moving to a new place and get excited, too..We've got "hitch itch" and we're supposed to stay another month in Casa Grande, AZ. The longer we stay in one spot, the more craft stuff I accumulate!

Dee, since you're starting out your travels without a suitcase I could climb into, please leave one of the tub lids a tiny bit loose for me. Please?? I wanna go too!! Seriously, travel safe and enjoy the road. Look forward to more rv life stories and neat places to see and camp. Lessie and Ed (TARDIS)

Boring details? Think again! I find those details very interesting. My wife & I are learning from you how to full-time. We have been reading your blog from the day you bought your rig and set out. We are so hoping to learn from other people's mistakes but I'm sure there will be a many mistakes that we discover on our own! We read your blog almost every day so please don't think you are boring anyone to death. I just thank you for being so honest and open. We never comment, but we are always reading.......
