Cold and Hot – Empty and Full

(Wauchula, FL) Hi 84 Lo 55 – I got woke up at 10:00 this morning with a very loud thump. I thought it was Jim, but he came to check on me thinking I did it.  It sounded like the side of the RV was hit with something.   Jim checked outside but didn’t see anything and about that time it thumped again.  It was wind gusts hitting the side of the awning.  Jim brought in the awning before the wind caused any damage. We tend to be really paranoid when it comes to the awning. We never leave it out if we leave during the day, and we bring it in whenever the winds get gusty. We're probably more cautious than we need to be, but we've heard about the damage that can be done to an awning in a windstorm.

Since I got up so late, when I turned on the computer mom was already online and so was a friend of ours, so we chatted for awhile. It was 79 degrees by noon and it got up to 84 for a high. We had to turn on the air conditioner to take out the humidity and cool off. We've found out that 80 is about as high as we can comfortably leave the a/c off, any higher than that and we have to turn it on. We're so glad we're not in the storm that went through Chicago and the other 31 states with lots of snow and ice.

Just about everyone is here in the park that’s coming for the winter, or that’s what the office says. Remember when we got here the first of November, all the empty sites?  Here’s some before and after pictures of the park.

The next two pictures are now full there was nothing in November.  The ditch now has water, which was totally dry in November.

It was a very busy day with chores.  Jim did the laundry and I did a full cleaning of the RV.  I also washed a part of the side of the RV around the slide, which had a big black water streak.  It was then time for my walk around the park.

The afternoon went fast.  I noticed the puzzle was done, so after shuffleboard I roamed around to different neighbors.  Jim grilled tonight’s supper and we watched a movie for the evening.  It’s been a hot day in paradise, and we’re very thankful.

Thanks for all the comments from yesterday's blog.

We don't take chances with our awning either! Our little park here in Bullhead City is also full to the brim. Just wish we could see some of those 80's you have in Florida here in our part of the west.

Yup.. we don't take chances with our awning either. Why waste days or weeks waiting for parts, claims on your insurance, and even the danger of the poles scratching the side of the rig or damaging a window?

My sister's awning ripped free with a gust, flew over the top and the poles banged down on the other side of her trailer, and cracked her airconditioner cover too.

No thanks.

Much easier to take the two or three minutes time to put it away. You can always unroll it again when the danger clears just as fast.
