Escapade Day 1 – Seminars

(Goshen, IN) –  There were a couple of comments asking about shoofly pie. This is a recipe I found online:

Jim was up early to get to his 8:30 seminar.  He walked out the door just as the tram was going by, so his day started off with a ride.  I couldn’t sleep so I got up and planned out my day of seminars. Jim went one way and I went another.

Jim’s seminars:
Investing for RVers, A professional perspective on the unique needs and challenges faced by RVers  for investing and financial planning.
Travel Trailer/5th wheel suspension and related components. The most commonly used suspensions, their components (tires, shocks, brakes etc) and how they improve the ride.
AC Electrical System Safety. Demonstrations of common AC electrical system hazards and dangers they present.

My seminars:
Honey! Let’s clean the RV.  It was tips on how to clean the RV using mircofiber cloths without using chemicals.  You can’t use many of the chemicals in an RV that you use at home.  Most are with water, white vinegar, peroxide.
Having fun volunteering: Information about different assistance organizations and how to volunteer for them.  (Won't be joining now but maybe later.)

We both went to RVing in Atlantic Canada.  Since we’re hoping to go to Canada next summer, we learned the best routes to take and what to see.

We met the gang for lunch at one of the pavilions.  Howard and Linda got to meet with some of the RV-Dreamers that they didn’t get to see last night.  It was great seeing everyone together again.

We went to the 4:30pm Happy Hour in the big assembly building.  It's where the organizers summarize the day's activities, tell what's coming up the next day, and award door prizes.  We didn't win any prizes.  :(

After dinner at home we went to a Full Timer Panel Discussion.  Several full time couples who have been on the road for many years discussed the lifestyle and answered audience questions.  It was a lot of fun and interesting to hear others' perspectives on living on the road.  Howard and Linda were on the panel.  We laughed so hard at some of the humorous answers.  The questions were very good and yes, we learned quite a bit.

At 9:00 I joined some friends in a game of hand and foot.  Jim wasn't in the mood to play so he went home to watch some TV.

A very packed and busy day, and lots more to come.

Looks like you guys are becoming rally veterans. Donna & I have registered for our first Rally, a Good Sam's Rally on Sept 23rd in Columbia Mo. it is only an hour and a half from home but the Chapter Rep said there would be over 200 rigs there, so we are both excited. Haven't seen the schedule of events yet but I hope they have some classes like you guys are going to.Hope you have a sfae trip when you head south. We will see you again sometime. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

Your workshops sounded really interesting and hope you share some of what you learned in the weeks that follow in your blog. I know it is taking a lot of bandwidth to even get a blog out, much less one with pics too! Thanks for your efforts--- anxious to read more about your fun rallies!
