2010 Escapade Opening Day - A Huge SURPRISE!!!!

(Goshen, IN) - We got up our normal time, had breakfast then headed out to check out the indoor and outdoor vendor areas, and the RV show area.  We had a good time meeting people along the way.  We'll be really busy all this week, so the blogs may be short, but we'll try to include lots of pictures.  Getting online is really spotty because of the large number of people using the park wi-fi.  Our Verizon web connection is also  slow because of all the traffic on the local cell tower.

This is an Escapees Chapter booth.  There are state and regional chapters and many of them had booths.  This is one of the two Florida chapters, which we might join.
There are almost 2,000 people at this rally.  These shots are from today's orientation and opening ceremonies.

We had an evening happy hour for the Class of 2007, which includes many from the RV-Dreams group that we've been getting together with the last couple of weeks.  When we get together, we're usually eating. Tonight was no exception.

All of a sudden we heard screaming and some people were rushing over to a couple. It took seconds to realize it was Howard and Linda, the leaders and founders of RV-Dreams.  They are in northern Michigan work camping and saw how many of us RV-Dreamers were here at the Escapade, so they decided to drive down and surprise us.  It was wonderful seeing them.  They'll be participating on a full timer panel discussion tomorrow evening.

At 7:30 we went to see the evening's entertainment, Johnny Counterfit.  He's a singer/comedian and does more then 25 voice-character impressions, including Johnny Cash, Elvis, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and many others.  He was very good and we had a lot of laughs.

After the show some of played hand and foot until almost 10:30.  I'm hooked on that game.  This is going to be a very busy week.  We'll try to keep the blogs going.

We enjoy Hand and Foot when we visit with my Mom. There are so many "unofficial" rules that need to be established before you play with different people but it's all fun. A small tournament would be nice.
I'm sure it was nice to see Howard & Linda.
