More on the Refrigerator - New Neighbors with BIG Rigs

(Goshen, IN) - Jim was on the phone early this morning trying to find a place to fix our refrigerator (it's not cooling).  We turned it back on this morning and switched it to propane to make sure it isn't an electrical problem.  (Fridges in RVs run on either AC or propane.)  The freezer got down to about 25 degrees and the refrigerator to about 52, so it's still not cold enough for most foods.  Most of the dealers and service centers in the area were booked up for two weeks or more (including the Carriage factory, which is about 10 miles from here).  He finally found a Norcold service center in Elkhart that can see us on Wednesday.  So we'll hitch up and tow it there and see if we can get this taken care of.  This place has the proper cooling unit in stock, which is very lucky for us.  Most of the other places said they would have to order one.  So if they have to replace the cooling unit the job would take about four hours, BUT they have to get authorization from Carriage and Norcold first.  Maybe we'll luck out and find out it's something simple.  We'll let you know how it works out.

I've mentioned the Gypsy Journal Rally that's being held in Elkhart this week. Several of the people we met from RV-Dreams in 2008 are attending.  These are the people we've been visiting occasionally for happy hour in the evening.  They're also members of  the Escapees Class of 2007.   (Escapees "Classes" denote the year the members started full timing.)  We will be together here at Goshen for the Escapade rally that starts on Sept 12.

A couple of huge RV's came into the park today.  They're both fifth wheels that are at least 40 feet long and pulled by semi trucks.  Very impressive to see!  I forgot to get pictures of them but I'll try to remember to post a couple tomorrow.  It's so fun meeting new people.  Our neighbors have been on the road 19 years and have no intention of giving it up.  I can't wait to spend more time with them.  I'm sure they've seen a lot of ups and downs.  This is our first park where almost everyone has been on the road a long time.

We didn't do anything the rest of the day.  Jim went to do laundry in town and I watched the last four episodes of a TV show I had recorded.  Then we both read for awhile, ate dinner and watched some more recorded shows.  We have quite a few shows recorded so we want to get them watched before the rally starts.

I found another chat room that was listed on another blog, chatrv.com.   I'll have to check it out. Tomorrow we're getting our home washed and waxed.  I'll take pictures and post them tomorrow night.

Hopefully the frig will be an easy fix.

I'll be interested in hearing more about the people who have been fulltiming for 19 years. That's amazing.

Dee - You said tht you are getting your rig washed and waxed. Is there a vendor at the rally doing that work, or did you find a local place to Elkhart that is doing it?
