Family Time - Atlantic Beach

We slept so good last night. We had breakfast with Jim's mom, sister (Sharon) and boyfriend (Jim). When I say breakfast we're talking a big breakfast! Alberta (Jim's mom) is a Southern cook, so it's big and super tasty.

We went to see the apartment of Jim's other sister (Robin) on Atlantic beach. Just a block down the street is Atlantic ocean. There's a ton of places for sale or rent. The economy has hit hard on the beach area.

As for the RV........ It's sitting a little slanted to the right, but the only way we can tell is the door to the bathroom swings out. We met the neighbor next door that's been fulltiming for three years and loving it. She's back here for awhile because this is home to them. They'll be on the road again in a month. She says the park is small, nice and quiet. As we were standing there, I noticed water dripping from the RV. It was the hose connection that needs a washer and not tight to the RV connection. Jim tightened it, but noticed where the water drains the seal is gone. We'll get RV goop to get that fixed tomorrow and also get a washer for the hose.

Just another tidbit, I signed up for Social Security online last night. I hope it starts in July. It's not going to be much, but every bit helps. I'm hoping to use that money for repairs on the RV.

For newbies that's thinking of going on the road: freedom is the only word we're feeling right now. This is our first time to Jim's family without feeling we have to hurry and see everyone and get back home for work. It's great! We can take our time, relax and go back to OUR home when it's time for bed. We like the freedom of coming and going so we're not "under foot" in someone elses' home.

Alberta also made pork chops in the crockpot for dinner, along with bisquits, fried cabbage and potatoes, with a pie and ice cream later tonight. Now I may just have to stay. I'll never be able to cook like she does. Thanks Alberta, it's wonderful. We watched the NASCAR race all afternoon and just visited.

We're staying in the park we're only until Wednesday. It's time to move on, we're just not sure where yet.

Funny: This is for the people who own RV's. When we go to the restroom anywhere besides the RV, we have to remember there's no foot pedal. Confusion can set in for just a second.

Ohhh just think!

Now when you are visiting relatives:
No packing and unpacking.
No forgetting something and having to borrow theirs.
No using someone else's bathroom.
No using someone else's towels.
No using someone else's bedding or sleeping in a strange bed.
No having to go to sleep or wake up to someone else's schedule.
No nosing around for the right channels on tv, or a book to read.
No feeling like a theif when you want to grab a midnight snack.

Having a place to retreat to that is your OWN for a break when visiting relatives is WONDERFUL!

(that is why we take our rig up to my dad's place - even if it's just one night)

Not only do you have no foot pedal, you can use all the toilet paper you want!

I just hate RV toilet paper! I keep reaching for the handle still.

Freedom is wonderful isn't it? We've been full-timing now for a little over 6 months and everyday it just gets better.

Hugs,
