New Lease - Warming up - Weekend in Kentucky

Well, it's done!  I signed a two year lease on Tuesday. I hate decisions, I always have. I have to think about it too long and talk myself into a frenzy over little things. I need to quit doing that and just take the first thing that comes to mind. I now have the apartment and my dryer is fixed which hasn't run right since I moved in, so both are now in place and I'm set to go til June 2024. In April I'll try to get the Illinois license. I still need to find all the paperwork and get the nerve to do it. If there's a test involved I need to pass it. The gal at the DMV says I don't need a test, the website says I do.  

Also on Tuesday I went to Scott AFB to get groceries and go to the famcamp we used to go too every time we were in the area. It has expanded the campsites and it's all cleaned up with more access to the lake. It's really nice. (Click on the photos to enlarge). 

I can't figure out what the little growths are, maybe cypress trees?  They look like trees, they're not mushrooms. There's a lot of them around the trees, so maybe new trees?  It's very interesting, gives the area "character".

This is looking into the camping area. Several people are there. There's also a place for boondocking (no hookups). 

This spot is where we parked a few times when we came here. I really do miss being on the road. 

It warmed up enough for me to walk a couple days this week. I have to take it slow but there's no reason to be speedy. Talking about "speedy" I'm trying to slow down in everything I do. I want to get things done NOW, not an hour later. The days never go fast enough and I have no idea why, I've always been that way. 

Saturday I went with Frank, Angie and Sherri to Campbellsville, KY to the college where Kendall (grandson) is going to school for a couple volleyball games. It was raining all the way there but traffic wasn't real bad. When we arrived it was just sprinkling and didn't rain the rest of the weekend. 

The trip is a little over five hours mostly all highway till we get closer to the school. We went to the airbnb first after getting a few groceries. The Airbnb is several miles from the school and out in the country. It's amazing and at night it's very quiet. I can't stress the QUIET that outs there at night. You HEAR NOTHING.  It's a working farm, with cows, chickens and horses. It's amazing. If you're ever in Campbellsville, KY area, please check this place out, it's well worth the price. We had four of us splitting the price, but two couples could split and be fine.

We went to watch Kendall's volleyball games after leaving the Airbnb the first time. They had a tournament and we wanted to see the games live and not stream them. Kendall plays on varsity and also JVC. The college has buildings just for sports and it's geared to sports minded students. 

Here's some views of the game. They play fast and hit the ball hard. I love that game and learned a lot more about it while there. Kendall and me at the Airbnb.

                                           Kendall is in the middle #13,  The coach calls him the battery. Put him in and wind him up and he'll come up with calls and yells to boost the team.

We left about 9am Sunday morning. It was sunny and a cold start at 37 but by the time we got back to O'Fallon it was 60. It's the first day of Spring.  I hope the worst of winter is over, but there's no telling yet if that's correct. I've seen it snow in May in this area in my earlier years. 

It was a great weekend and we had a great time at the Airbnb. School first year is almost over. I'm sure we'll be going many more times in  the next three years.
