So Long Arizona, Hello Utah!

(Blanding, UT) Hi 75 Lo 49 -- We don’t normally blog on a traveling day, but we just had to share some photos from our trip today from Flagstaff, AZ to Blanding, UT.

We had an interesting start to the day. Jim always checks the tires on the Pressure Pro tire monitoring system. This morning the left front truck tire was 30 lbs low. We just had all new tires installed on the truck yesterday, so something was wrong. He called Big O Tires and they said to bring it in and they'd fix it right away. It was only 10 mins. from the park, so he was there and back within 45 minutes. The problem was a bad valve stem. We were on the way by 10:30, which is only a half hour later then our normal time. We were a little nervous when we set out, but Jim checked the monitor periodically and the tires were good the whole trip.

We made our way to Utah, another new state for Tumbleweed. It was very windy the whole trip, with a lot of blowing dust. The terrain seemed to change every few miles. (Click on the photos to make them larger.)

This looked very interesting. It appears to be a long conveyor belt leading up to a silo. It originated far in the distance and went right across the highway. Maybe it has to do with mining? If anyone knows please leave comment.

We had lunch at a Burger King in the small town of Kayenta, AZ.

The wind was gusting up to 50 mph. It was blowing me all over the place in the car, but Jim said he felt it in the truck, but it wasn't bad. He's sure glad he has dual rear wheels!

The blowing dust really got thick in some spots.

After we crossed into Utah, the scenery really improved.

Another dust devil. We saw several of them today.

We got set up at Blue Mountain RV Park just south of Blanding. It's still really windy, and Jim didn't even bother setting up the satellite dish. Hopefully the wind will die down tomorrow so we can enjoy some of the sights around here. If not, we'll wait until Thursday. All I know is, we're getting sick of wind!

See you tomorrow.

Hope the wind dies down eventually. Monument Valley is an incredible place!

We are sure enjoying your out west trip! We haven't been to Utah yet, so will be watching and learning right along with you. Glad the tire was an easy fix!

Love Utah. We need to spend some time there too. When we were there is was a whirl wind trip pre RVing.

Oh yea, forgot to say - we would not be without a tire pressure monitoring system. Saved our butts more than once. Looks like it did for you too.

With the exception of SLC and the Bonneville Salt Flats, I think the scenery in Utah is gorgeous!

Glad the tire problem turned out to be only a minor one. Nice pics. We are following your trip with interest because it will help us when we head south.
