Rainy Travel Day to Alabama

(Hoover, AL) Hi 53 Lo 43 -- We woke up early to the sound of rain on the roof. We got up, checked the weather and we had a very small window to hitch up between rain showers. We were on the road by 9:00, which is early for us. A light sprinkle started as Jim was dumping the tanks at the park dump station. We traveled through medium to hard rain most of the way to Birmingham. And it got colder the further west and north we went.

We’re glad to be back in the Central time zone. We’re now on the same time as our kids and my mom. It’s great to be able to get on chat an hour earlier too.

It finally quit raining by the time we got to Hoover RV Park in Hoover, which is a suburb of Birmingham. The park has full hookups, free wi-fi, and free cable TV (which we don't need). It's just off the parking lot of the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, which until this year was the home of the Birmingham Barons minor league baseball team. (They're now in a new stadium that just opened in downtown Birmingham.) The park is all pavement with RV sites marked by lines, and pedestals between every other site. The only grass is the small islands at the end of the rows. (Click to enlarge pictures)

The stadium sits just down the sloping parking lot from us. We can barely see the top of it.

If we had more grass around us it would be our perfect kind of park. I can imagine how hot it would be in the summertime. Fortunately for us it will be cool the next few days.

We rested up all afternoon after getting set up. Twice through the afternoon our power went out in one whole section of the trailer (mainly the TV and sound system). The first time it happened Jim connected our power to the other side of the pedestal (the one for our neighboring site). It went out again. Re-setting the circuit breaker on the pedestal turned it back on. If it happens again we'll hook up to the 30-amp power and see if that's more stable. We're not real up on electrical systems, but we're guessing one leg of the 50-amp power is having issues. We'll call the park management tomorrow and report it. I hope we don't have to move. :(

Hey! We've been to that park...I think more than once :)
Unlike you, it was just an overnight parking lot for us...with power and water :)
Nice, safe and close to Costco :)
Hope to see you soon!

We always stay there when in town. Quiet and close to shopping and eating. Also, easy to get to.

That is the park to stay while in B'ham area. You might want to change your location identifier from Hoover Ga. to Hoover Al. We are just N.E. of Birmingham doing Volunteer work at a Christian Camp. We are heading out Wed. toward N. Ms. and then to S.D. and then to Utah. Enjoy your stay in Hoover. Like Joe and Carolyn this is home for us even though S.D. is going to be our legal domicile. We come back to Birmingham area every year.
