Foot Doctor and Baseball

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 66 Lo 35 -- We woke up in the middle of the night and it was really cold. The furnace had quit for some reason. Jim went outside to check the propane tanks and they both had gas in them and were both turned on. He turned the furnace off and back on again and it worked fine the rest of the night. I guess it just needed a reset. The weather warmed up nicely during the day.

Jim went to Jupiter, about 2 1/2 hours away, for a spring training baseball game between his St. Louis Cardinals and the Minnesota Twins. He had a great seat right behind the Cards' dugout.

He loves getting away to a ball game. He'll get to see the Cards again next Monday in Tampa when they take on the New York Yankees.

While he was gone I went to see a podiatrist. Since Jim drove the car to Jupiter (cheaper on gas) I drove his truck to my 9:30 appointment. It's been a long time since I drove it, but I had no problems and I didn't hit anything in the parking lot with those wide rear fenders. I got there on time but the doctor was in surgery, so they asked me to come back at noon. I've had trouble with my right foot ever since the South Carolina get together when I started walking a lot, and it's progressively getting worse the more walking I do. I try to do one mile a day, but it's not without my foot hurting and sending pain to my knee and hip. X-rays today showed that I have bone spurs and arthritis. The doctor didn't really have a solution except to take pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.). I really don't like taking pills. He did give me a shot of something in the top of my foot which killed the pain for most of today. I go back to see him in four weeks, but I'm not sure why. (?) I did get in my one mile walk when I got home.

On the way home I got a haircut and some groceries. I managed to make it in and out of the Walmart parking lot in the truck ok. Jim got home in time for us to go play cards. It was a full day for both of us.

Have you looked into orthotics? That might help with your hip and knee pain.

I just splurged on a pair of Dr. Scholls walking shoes with "gel" in the heels. Sure feels a lot better when I walk, and I go further.

(even if my daughter made fun of mine with velcro straps.. hey.. they were on sale!)

Sorry to hear about the pain in your foot. Hope you're able to find a solution you like that helps it to subside.

I also use the gel inserts, even in my slippers. Tell Jim go cards, I hope they kick some yankee butts, lol. chey

ok, one more thing. I no longer like your heading with the pic of florida that shows the arrow and the we are here label. That map makes it look like your really close to what appears to be sinkholes, time to get out of there. jk :) chey

Ooh, hope that there is a short term solution to your foot problem. I know what you mean about driving the truck. I've been taking ours to visit my parents when George is working our shift, and it is very hard to park!

Spring training is one of many things we are missing since we didn't make it to Arizona this winter.
