(Beaufort, NC) Hi 71 Lo 47 -- I had my last doctor appointment this morning, so now I'm ready for another year on the road. The only time I go to a doctor while traveling is if I'm in pain for something and then I'll go to an Urgent Care in whatever city we're in. It works well with our insurance (Tricare). Hopefully, I'm done with doctors for awhile.
We made arrangements to meet with Carol and John, since they were passing this way from Ocracoke. They parked their motorhome in a local strip mall parking lot and we met up with them for lunch. We went to a great local place called No Name Pizza. They have really good Italian and Greek sandwiches, along with pizzas. We sat a couple hours visiting with them. We have a lot in common since we've both been on the road for three years. After our visit, and farewell hugs, they continued their trip to Wilmington, NC for the night. We'll see them again in Florida this winter. Thanks for stopping guys, it was great to see you again.

We went back to the RV for a short time then took off to Jim's Mom's for our last visit with her before we leave tomorrow. His uncle Donald was there. We hadn't seen him yet this visit so it was nice that he came by. Donald is a retired commercial shrimper. He told some stories of his shrimping days and great times on the water. He says the fish in the Atlantic are migrating farther north in the summertime, and the boats now go as far as the Canadian border for their hauls. The weather patterns are changing, with the southern waters too warm for flounder and some other species of fish. We learned a lot about the commercial fishing industry. I could listen to him for hours.
After Donald left Mom cooked us a wonderful chicken parmesan dinner. Aunt Roberta lives in the same apartment complex so she walked over to join us. After dinner we sat and visited for awhile, then had to say our goodbyes. Fortunately we'll see them both again in a couple of weeks at the "Carolina Clan" get together at Huntington Beach State Park in South Carolina. They're coming for a weekend with Jimmy and Sharon in Jimmy's motorhome. When we got home Jim went over to watch the debate with Jimmy and I took control of the TV for a couple of hours.
It's on to Raleigh in the morning. It's been a great 12 days. Thanks so much Sharon and Jimmy for letting us dock in your front yard. It's beautiful here!
