The scenery was more like home to us, mostly trees and a lot more populated than out west. It's good to be back in the east. For the first time I saw sugarcane fields.
There are many oil refineries in this part of Louisiana.
We had a smooth trip till we got near Lafayette. The exit from I-10 we were supposed to take was closed due to an accident. Jim pulled over so I could enter the park address into my GPS (we usually follow written directions from Google Maps). It led us to the next exit and around some back roads until we ended up back on our original route. It wasn’t long we were at Betty’s RV park.
We’ve heard so much about this park. Betty is the owner and she loves socializing with everyone. We arrived at 3:30 and when we finished setting up it was time for the 4:30 happy hour on Betty's porch. There’s only three other rigs here, all full timers. We talked about where we’ve been and where we’re going. It was great to meet people on our first evening here. Betty has lived here since birth and knows every business and restaurant in the area. She spontaneously ordered a few dozen crabs for a crab boil tomorrow. Can't wait!

We’re parked about 100 feet from the porch.
We’ll be here for a week. I'll get some pictures of Betty tomorrow. Happy hour broke up around 6:00 and we had some dinner in the rig and relaxed the rest of the evening. We’ll get some plans for the week made up in the morning. Betty has all kinds of contacts in the area and great recommendations for things to see. Anyone have a favorite place in this area that we shouldn't miss?

There are sugarcane fields in south Fl. also. If you see a lot of smoke in the area of the fields, they burn off the remains of the previous crop before they reuse the field.
I remember someone staying there last year (Howard & Linda?) and said it is a hoot. We might be able to stay there on the way to Texas in November.
You will like the Tabaso tour and Bryan Champlain swamp tour.
Second vote for the Tabasco tour. We really enjoyed it. The gift shop has some really unique items, too.
Third vote for the Tobasco Tour on Avery Island. The po boys at the very rustic Schwiers (sp?) grocery are the best I have ever eaten. (catfish and shrimp). It is in the country outside a nearby town. Betty will have to tell you how to get there.
Breau Bridge is pretty interesting and Crawfish Town (http://www.crawfishtownusa.com/) has good cajun food.
