Change of Plans... Because We Can!

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 84 Lo 58 -- We're going to start watching the weather up north a lot this next week. We know we'll be headed to tornado alley in the Midwest, lots of rain and storms, but it's time to go.

We had planned on going to Bok Tower Gardens today, but it was really cloudy and we were sure it was going to rain, plus it was one of those days we didn't feel like getting out. We stayed in instead, and started our preparations to pull out next week. We ran the slides in and out to be sure everything was ok. Better to have a problem now, with time to have it fixed, than discover it next week on the morning we leave. The last time we operated our large full wall slide it left a tiny bit of cloth material on one of the screws on the floor vent, which tells us the slide may be a little low on that end. This time it was fine. But the bottom of the slide is leaving a print on the carpet on that end, so it may be slightly out of adjustment. We're not worried about it at this point, but we'll keep and eye on it.

We took our walk around the park. It was a little humid and there were occasional drops of rain, but it was a nice walk with several people out and about. There are several empty sites now, and I'm sure there will be more and more as the week goes by.

I got caught up on some computer updates and backups, and moved some stuff around in the cupboards, but the bulk of that will be done next week. I also wiped down the wood panels and have them shiny again. Our electricity went off and back on twice today. Jim determined it was surges causing our internal surge protector to shut things down. Each time the power came back on in about 2 1/2 minutes, which is the time it takes for the surge protector to analyze the power before letting it come back on. They've had some power issues in the park this winter, and the manager said after all the snowbirds leave they're going to do a complete inspection of all the pedestals and make any necessary repairs. This is only the second time we've had any problems, so we can't complain too much.

It was just one of those days, we had plans and then changed our minds. That's the nice thing about this lifestyle, if we don't want to do something, we can change our minds and do something else. We were in today, so that means we'll be out tomorrow.

It is a great thing about the full-timing lifestyle to easily change your plans, we just decided to bypass tornado alley.
