(Avon Park, FL) Hi 77 Lo 41 -- It's nice to have that cold front out of here and get back to the kind of beautiful days that make Florida so wonderful. We goofed off all morning, then Jim went for his walk around the park. At 2pm we met our friends Rick, Elaine, Ken and Debbie at the clubhouse for a couple of hours of shuffleboard. None of us are any good, but we sure do have fun!
After the games Jim and I returned home to clean up and get ready for one of the events that everyone looks forward to here at Adelaide Shores, the Rusty Scalpel Dinner. Rusty scalpel is a resident of our park named Jim (can't remember his last name) who used to be a surgeon. A physical disability caused him to have to give up his medical practice, so he went to culinary school and became a gourmet chef. Three or four times during the winter season he puts on a full evening of gourmet dining called the Rusty Scalpel Dinner. Jim and his team prepare everything and all you have to do is show up with your dinnerware and drinks. Tonight it was an Italian menu, which started off with appetizers of mozarella sticks with marinara sauce, and antipasto. Then came pasta fazzoli (Italian soup). The main course was chicken parmesan and fettucini, and finally for dessert was pound cake topped with ice cream and berries. Needless to say the food was exceptionally good, and it was served in a leisurely manner. That let us enjoy good conversation with our table mates, and we made some new friends. By the time we finished it was close to 9pm, and we came back to our home stuffed and ready to relax in our recliners for some TV and online chatting.
Another great day of fun here in sunny paradise!
