Sitting Outside - WIFI News

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 84 Lo 61 -- I spent most of today by myself. Jim drove to the VA hospital in Tampa for his weekly blood test. It got a little on the warm inside today, so I sat outside quite a bit. We have to pay for our electric here, so we're trying to avoid using our air conditioner as much as possible. There was a nice breeze, so it was cool under our awning with our new sunblocker. I was going to clean the carpets, but it was just too hot. I'll wait for a cooler day.

I had a chat on the computer with our younger son in Illinois, and also my mom called. Yesterday she had minor surgery on her back. She's going to be sore awhile, but otherwise she's fine.

There've been a lot of complaints about the park wi-fi. In fact, we heard so many bad reports about it that we decided not to subscribe to it. We use our Verizon 3G for our internet. A representative from the company that provides the park's internet had a meeting at the clubhouse this afternoon. I went over to listen in. She flat admitted that the system in the park doesn't have enough bandwidth for anything but email and web surfing. That means no Skype and no You Tube. That's disappointing, but we're glad about our decision to depend on our Verizon connection.

Jim got back late afternoon. He's right on target on the dosage of blood thinner, so that's good news. We don't have any plans for the rest of the week or the weekend, except for the pot luck dinner on Sunday. We'll play it by ear. That's what's nice about this lifestyle... you don't have to make any plans, and you're available for anything that might come up. I might even start a new family Christmas tradition by taking a dip in the pool on Christmas day.
