Merry Christmas 2011

(Avon Park, FL)  Hi 88 Lo 65 – The header photo says it all. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and Santa was good to you. We are like a lot in our age group in that we don't get each other very much for Christmas. We tend to get what we want throughout the year. Usually at some point before Christmas one of us will buy something and the other will say, "That's your Christmas present." Gift-buying problem solved! :) Then we'll get each other a small gift just to have something to unwrap on Christmas day.

Late this morning our older son called us on Skype so we got to see the grandkids. The connection was a little slow, but we saw them with their gifts and noticed how much bigger they are since we saw them this summer.

Around noon we went to the pool for a Christmas day swim, and to take the photo you see above. There were other people there too, thinking how nice it is to be in the pool on an 80 degree day and not out shoveling snow. Sorry to our northern friends for rubbing it in, but this is the reason we have wheels, so we can move to where it’s warm.

It was finally time to head over to the clubhouse for the Christmas pot luck dinner. We were surrounded by around 175 people. We had the best food, and lots of it! There were three large tables full of every kind of food imaginable. And this didn't include the turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes with gravy, which were served from the counter of the main kitchen. And as if that wasn't enough, there was a fourth table with nothing but desserts. Such a feast!  (Click on photos to enlarge them.)

Everyone went all out decorating their tables. The whole place looked so festive!

We were too full to do much of anything else today. Jim watched sports on TV and I worked a little on backing up all of our 2011 pictures to DVD’s and our external drive. I love "putting away" the past year and starting a new year.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Sure wish it would warm up a little bit here in AZ. At least the sun was shining brightly today. But it sure wasn't warm enough to be swimming. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas day.
