Maybe, Maybe Not... Plans on Hold

(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC)  Hi  74 Lo 48 -- We both had to get up early and have nothing to eat so we could meet with the vampire. Our appointment for blood tests 8:45, so another early morning for me. Afterwards we went to McDonalds for egg biscuits. I do that every time I have a blood test. Our followup is Tuesday for the results and full physicals. At least we can get that out of the way while we're here.

We went over to see mom and this time we could stay awhile. She was doing very well when we got there, but her occupational therapy didn't go too well. She's still having trouble getting around and is having pain. We got word from our chosen assisted living facility that our application is on hold. They need more information from her doctor before she can be accepted. I'm not sure what all is involved, but the doctor was out today so we have to wait through the weekend for an answer. Hopefully it's something minor, but we don't know for sure.

We went to the apartment to sort out some stuff and organize some things to donate to mom's church. I happened to think that we could donate a lot of her food to a local food bank. We still have time to get it all done, but I'm a little nervous about what's going to happen the next few weeks.

We went out to dinner with friends, then back home to watch the Carolina Hurricanes' opening game. It's good to have hockey back for a new season. It feels strange to be watching the game on TV when we're within walking distance from the arena. We plan to see one game in person before we leave, probably the Oct 29th game against the Chicago Blackhawks (our son's and daughter-in-law's home team).

The fair is gearing up for next weekend and it's getting very busy around here. I'm hoping to take some pictures if I can find the time, to show how it's coming together. A lot of fair workers are starting to show up in all kinds of RV's, so our campground is filling up.  We talked to a vendor who travels in a beautiful 42-foot Travel Units custom built fifth wheel. He showed us inside his rig, and it's really nice. It's going to be fun watching the fair come together, and we'll have a great view of the nightly fireworks. It will be nice to have something fun to think about for a change.

There is always so much paperwork. And it's such a stressful time no matter how well everything goes. Saying lots of prayers for you and your Mom.

I was wondering, if they are concerned that your mom can't get around easy enough on her own. I remember when checking out those assisted living places, that they really wanted to see that the person could handle it.
Good luck, thinking of you all..

Newcomers Meeting - Zoom - Emerald Coast Band

Shalimar, FL  (Hi 64  Lo 40)   This week went so slow. When you're retired the days get all mixed up and some go so slow you skip a day...
