Power Outage (Or, Thank Goodness for a Generator)

(Iowa City, IA) Hi 84 Lo 67 --  We had just gone to bed for about an hour when a storm came through. I got up and checked the weather radar and it looked like the worst was going south of us, but we did get wind and rain.  The power went out at about 2am and was still out when we got up. We were glad to have the generator, which we started up to make coffee and get the news on TV.  After about an hour or so our neighbor came over to tell us the power was back on. Sure is nice to have the generator in situations like that!

Jim changed out our city water connection. The old was was starting to leak around the hose connection. We had picked up a new one when we got the breakaway switch the other day. He's getting better at fixing things, thanks to the help of others. When we stayed in Karen and Steve's in Ocono, WI, Steve was kind enough to help us with some minor repairs and Jim learned a lot from him. Thanks Steve!

There were several rigs that came in for the weekend, and it was fun watching them pack up and leave today. Lots of boats on the river fishing. We may be alone again tomorrow morning, when we leave for Galena, IL. The Dubuque area (near Galena) had about 14 inches of rain last week, so Jim called to be sure the campground was still open.  All is well.

Here's a few more pictures of our park.

This is one of the outlets of the dam , which is just down from our park.

A fish cleaning station, which was busy during the weekend.

Last nights sunset.

I played some facebook games and Jim read most of the day. We watched the NASCAR race until it was stopped temporarily for rain. Then we watched recorded TV shows, and Jim watched some of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. Just a lazy day... ain't this life grand?

We agree, Steve is a handy guy, Karen should rent him out.

Yes, this life is grand. We enjoy watching the weekenders leave too. Also just watching TV, playing games on our phones etc. It works for us.

Yup Paul and Marti... Hunnerd Dollars N Hour(got make our fuel money somewhere!) LOL

Glad you have the genny there Dee. It sure comes in handy, especially with this bad humidity and heat. So many campgrounds are browning out or power failures from the extra loads.
