Rainy Start - Raleigh, NC

(Raleigh, NC) - Hi 82 Lo 68 -  It was a very rainy start this morning. We wanted to leave Beaufort by 11am.. It was one of those mornings when the sun was shining but it would rain off and on, sometimes very hard. Poor Jim, every time he would start on his outside jobs it would rain, then when he came inside it would stop. We were only a little late getting on the road, and it was fine all the way to Raleigh, with only small showers. We stopped for lunch at a Burger King that had a large shopping center behind it with plenty of room to park the truck and fiver.

Jim put a few extra pounds of air in the problem tire from yesterday. The road was rough when we got near Raleigh and the back of the RV did a lot of bouncing. I kept an eye on the tire from my view driving behind him. I could tell the back tire was losing air as it started to bulge a bit. And just as we arrived at the NC State Fairgrounds Jim said the Pressure Pro monitor started beeping. The tire went from 82 pounds of air down to 69 pounds in four hours. The first thing Jim's going to do this week is get some new tires. When we arrived at the fairgrounds at around 3:45 we were immediately approached by a security guy. We asked him where the 50-amp sites were, and he told us about a brand new RV section that we didn't know about. He led us to it and we loved it! It's on the fairgrounds property but well separated from the main areas that have all the activities. And it's always busy around here. Every weekend there's a huge flea market, and this weekend is the Dixie Knife and Gun Show.

This is the new RV park.

The roads and sites are gravel. They're planning to add a bathhouse later. It has 24 hr security and streetlights around the perimeter. We plan to park here from now on when we come back to this area to visit mom.

We were invited to a friend's place for dinner tonight so we picked mom up and took her with us. She's looking really good and is doing ok healthwise. We had a great visit, then took mom home and we came back to the RV for the night. We've decided to stay here for about three weeks to give us plenty of time to spend with mom and visit friends before starting our trip to Canada.  It feels good being back where this all started.

have jim get the rims checked too. i once had a slow leak & we vfound out that the rim had alittle dent in it from hitting potholes causing it to leak.

Time is winding down! Glad your Mom's doing well and that you have a nice, close place to stay when visiting there.

That part of the Fairgrounds looks a lot nicer than the main part. I'm sure it'll still fill up in October with the fair in town. Have fun visiting family and friends and safe travels.
