(Wauchula, FL) Hi 78 Lo 59 -- It was stormy all day. When we first got up there were tornado warnings and flooding north of us in the Tampa Bay and Orlando areas. We had sunshine, but it slowly clouded up during the morning and early afternoon. The cold front was creeping south the entire day. We stayed glued to the full coverage on the local Tampa channel all morning. The front finally reached us by about 5pm and we got some very hard rain but nothing severe.
Today is opening day of the baseball season, so Jim made it a day of baseball watching on ESPN. He's a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, and they were in one of the two games he watched. He says he gets real excited about baseball at the beginning of the season, then not so much as the long season wears on. And then he gets excited again for the playoffs and World Series. I read blogs, watched some recorded shows and chatted online with several people. I also defrosted the freezer. It wasn't real bad, but I wanted to get it defrosted before we start our travels next week.
I do have to report the fun I had last night with the gamers. All week they've been meeting and playing the card game Thirty-One. It's really fun and it helps the memory, so they say. I won the very first game and took home some of the winnings. You play with 3 dimes per game. We had two tables of 10 people. By 9:00 there was only one table of the "night owls" left. It was super just socializing and playing games. I'm not sure who will be here after this weekend to play, so many people are moving out. When I got home there were still a couple of folks in the chat room.
Overall it was a relaxing, retired living kind of day.
Florida Trivia: A museum in Sanibel owns 2 million shells and claims to be the world's only museum devoted solely to mollusks.
5 more days till we head north.

We are at the Sun N Fun in Lakeland, Florida and we got hit hard. The skies turned green, only seen that before during tornadoes...we are all safe but there was major damage throughout the area including our Scootaround tent was destroyed along with others and planes were flipped...very intense moments, we barely got out of our tent and into a building before it collapsed. We are so grateful to all be safe...
Looking forward to sunny skies for the rest of this air show.
Glad to hear the storms weren't too bad for you folks.
Jim I am the same way about baseball. Excited to see who is starting. Then as I get busy and the season goes on I pay little or no attention to what is going on. When the playoffs gear up I am tuned in again. I like Texas of course but then if there is a good team out there playing good ball I like them just because they are fun to watch.
Take care I will be back at the lake Friday afternoon.
