Surviving Storms

(Wauchula, FL) - Hi 67 Lo 62 --  Thank you for the comments and emails on yesterday's blog that identified those large birds we saw.  We are glad to know that they're Sandhill Cranes, and that they can be quite noisy. If we stay at that park next winter we'll be prepared.

The rain and storms moved out early this morning.  I don't remember Florida having tornadoes when we lived here in the 70's,  but a friend, Sandra looked up the stats, and in some years Florida is ahead of Nebraska and Oklahoma in the number of tornadoes. When they gave the warnings last night they were by county and large areas, not knowing when a funnel would drop.  I also learned by reading the stats that most happen at night and they peak January through March.  Now we know to keep the weather radio handy for the winter months. There were a few damaged buildings, but not in our area.

Jim went to the local library today to read his weekly magazines, and I went through some magazines that I've been piling up to sort them out.  I also read quite a few blogs.  There's a lot of our chatter friends from RV-Dreams that are out West.  It's neat following the adventures of friends in the chatroom who went from full time "wannabe's" to now living on the road and moving around this winter.  Can you tell I have hitch itch?  (Hitch itch is wanting to get on the road and travel in the RV, but you're currently sitting in one place for one reason or another).  We have a little over two months before we start heading north.  Maybe I should start a countdown clock like I did for going on the road last year.  :)

So glad you guys made it through, we didn't have it too bad in Clermont. The storms didn't even interrupt Bingo the park had going on.

We've since moved to Orlando and see that the weather is going to be wonderful...

By the way, don't go close to Sandhill Cranes, they'll go for your eyes.

It's too cold and snowy up here in Northern VA. If I were you, I'd stay down there an extra month or two! ;c)
