Change of Plans Today

(Wauchula, FL) -- Hi  74  Lo 38   -  I have to report on last night's games at the clubhouse.  There were several people at three different tables playing different games - Mexican Train (dominoes),  Texas Hold-em, and Euchre.  We sat with another couple, Fred and Martha, who taught us to play the card games Scoop and Sticks.  What a ball we had learning both games, and there's a few more to learn.  One card game that we like is Hand and Foot, which we learned while with our RV-Dreamer friends at Goshen and Elkhart, Indiana this past fall.  We haven't found anyone here that plays the version we learned, but some do know a different and more complicated version.  It was nice to get some "personal" lessons last night so we don't feel intimidated with a larger group.

We had planned on driving over to Bradenton today to look around, but when we got up it was cloudy and it didn't look like it would clear up. We want a nice hot day to go to the beach, so we changed our plans and went to the movies instead.  We Saw "True Grit."  It was very good and we both think that it will get Oscar nominations for Jeff Bridges and the 14-year old girl, who has never been in a movie before.

We stopped on the way at a music store in Sebring.  I wanted to get  a harmonica instruction book. I found a couple of books, and one had a CD with it. They're both the type of music I want to learn.  I've been having fun with it so far.

On the way home we stopped for dinner at Homer's. It's a family buffet similar to Golden Corral, but the food is a little better.  The place was really busy.

We got back to the park right at nightfall, and even though the temperatures are warming up, it still gets chilly after the sun goes down.  So weather-wise, it seems to be back to normal here in paradise.

If you like golf, here's some computer fun you can try.

I know there cannot be more than one couple known as Ed and Martha. Maybe they are the Klaymeiers and if so Ginger and I worked with them in N.Y. the past 2 years. Mention it to them if you would and have a Happy New Year!
