Cold Cold Cold

(Wauchula, FL -- Hi 61 Lo 28) - It got cold overnight and the furnace ran quite a bit.  Today we saw the dreaded "red band" on he propane tank indicating empty.  I'm sure glad we have two tanks that automatically change over when one is out.  We've heard of people who have older systems that run out in the middle of the night and they have to go outside to manually change to the other tank. Later in the day there was wind just enough to put a chill in the air so you need a light jacket. At least we haven't needed a heavy coat yet. Our neighbors said there was frost on car windshields, but we get up too late to worry about that.

We didn't do much of anything till it was time to shuffle (that's what everyone calls playing shuffleboard). We haven't played the last couple of days so we were ready to get out for some exercise.   Jim found out from the Russ the maintenance man that they're expecting around 70 people to arrive in the park by the end of this week.  We're wondering how many will be delayed because of the bad weather up north.

We discovered yesterday that our refrigerator won't switch over to propane.  It shows error code No Flo meaning it isn't getting propane.  It works fine on AC power. Jim did some checking in the outside fridge compartment on the side of the rig, and he saw a disconnected wire hanging down.  Once he saw where it plugs in he reconnected it and the propane came on.  The tech at Lazy Days probably forgot to connect it when he did the work on our recall a couple of weeks ago, or it was loose and came off while traveling.  Anyway, another fridge problem solved.  Whew!

I stored all the Christmas decorations for the year. Jim took everything out of the basement and we did some reorganizing so I could get all the Christmas stuff in one box.  Now we have it all together and only need to look for that one box next year. We were commenting on how our basement compartments are only about half full. We don't feel like we need anything else, so it's nice that we're not overloaded like some basements we've seen. It's still surprising how little we need to live comfortably.

It may get down to freezing tonight, but not the hard freeze we had last night.  (Around here they define a "hard freeze" as below 32 deg. for 6 or more hours.)  We'll leave the hose hooked up but when Jim gets up in the middle of the night (for you know what) he'll turn the kitchen faucet on a slow drip for the rest of the night.  A big warm up will start tomorrow, and it will be in the upper 70's by the end of the week. That's the way it's supposed to be in Florida, our little piece of paradise.
