Pay it Forward – RV-Dreamers Get Together

(Milford, VA) – Reminder:  I have updated the "Parks Where We've Stayed" section to the right with the latest information, and also the rating system we use is to the right on the excel form.  I hope this helps those who are traveling in the areas we’ve stayed.

We waited this morning for a call for breakfast from Mike and Terri.  We met them at the RV-Dreams rally in April.  They’re going to go full time next year when they sell their house here in the Richmond area.  They picked us up here at the park and we went to Cracker Barrel where met another RV-Dreams couple, Paul and Marti.

We had good food and good conversation.  Both couples are planning on selling their homes early next year and go full time.  They already have their RV's, Mike and Terri a fifth wheel, and Paul and Marti a class A motor home.  They asked us a lot of the questions we asked at the beginning of our lifestyle, like how do you get rid of your "stuff."  It’s so great to pay it forward, helping others in getting on the road for this fabulous lifestyle.  We outstayed our welcome at Cracker Barrel; the manager was giving us the evil eye.  They were starting the lunch time crowds and we were still sitting there from breakfast.

We parted ways with lots of hugs and well wishes.  It was such a great get together, and we want to thank Mike and Terri for breakfast, and Paul and Marti for driving two hours to join us.  We'll definitely stay in touch, and we’re hoping we meet up again real soon.

We spent the rest of the day watching the NASCAR race, and I worked on last month's budget.  We were over quite a bit in September, mainly because of all the eating out at the Escapees rally and the purchases of Jim's new computer and my Droid X.  With the lifestyle we lead, these are more necessities than luxuries.  (That's our story and we're sticking to it.)  :)

It started to rain, but we took some more pictures of the park. It’s being renovated so there's a lot of heavy equipment and pipes lying around as they add sites.

The office.  Inside is a nice meeting/rec room with two TV’s.

The pool, all closed up now, but it’s quite nice.

Is this the best place to put a fire ring... right in the middle of a group of trees?

This is out our back window. Looks like a regular neighborhood... where "working" people live.  :)

We’re hitching up to move back to Raleigh, NC tomorrow morning, the place where we started our adventure.  Back to spend some time with my mom and our friends. It’s getting colder in the mornings so it’s time to keep heading South.  After a couple of weeks there we'll head to the NC coast to spend time with Jim's mom and family.  Then on to Florida for the winter.

I'm so happy to have discovered how friendly and helpful so many RVers are, and I can't wait to get on the road too!

Thank YOU for all of your great stories, tips and RV knowledge. The time spent was invaluable. We had the best time with you, Paul, and Marti, and look forward to visiting with you again some time. Until we meet again, safe and happy trails to you.

Thank you so much Jim&Dee for a wonderful time yesterday. Terri and I really enjoyed listening and learning from both of you. It was nice that Paul & Marti could join us too. We hope to some day soon be able "pay it forward" too. Stay safe and healthy in your travels and we hope to see you again real soon.

I didn't realize you were in Milford! Johnny spent a couple months there (November/December '08) working at a big power plant down the road. The dog enjoyed the snow more than he did! I believe it was a KOA he stayed at. Not too bad. Less trees than where you were! Enjoy your NC visit!
