I actually slept, for awhile. When I woke up the first thing I thought of we're really going to do this, we're really going fulltime to see this great nation and see the kids and meet up with the RV chatters. Then the butterflies started. It was raining on and off all day but luckily only when I was inside and not running around outside. I picked up the office mail and got to work with no one there except one person. Everyone else was at the conference. Besides the phone I did a few things that had to be done, but spent a lot of time in Facebook and reading blogs. I left at 1:00 and went to see about the apartment.
This place is across the street and they have rules that can't be broken. They will hold an apartment for 24 hours for a cost. Jim wants to see it tomorrow, I saw it today. It's great and I put the down payment for the hold. The Realtor told us to hold off and wait for inspection but if we wait there's no other first floor apartment in this place and I don't really want to go anywhere else. We can sign papers for move in August 26. Should we go ahead and sign not knowing if all will go through with the inspection or something might even happen at closing in the big question. How much of a risk do we take? I'll let you know tomorrow.
Our Realtor called and told us what to do to get ready for inspection. It's different in an condo so we have to check all switches, light bulbs, water drainage, dishwasher working, garbage disposal working, doors close and lock and check for under the sink leaks. We are hoping it will be done in the next four or five days. It will give us time to fix anything they do find before the August 28 date.
I like time lines, everyone that's been following the blog knows I'm a time freak. It doesn't bother me to have things change (kinda) but I need that time frame to shoot for something to look forward to. (mom is the same way). Here's what I'm hoping happens, and you can follow along.
1. Get the apartment and move in or have the lease scheduled for August 26-28. (still not sure at this point we'll do it.
2. Closing on September 16 (if it's on time)
3. September 17 we order the RV or at least get it on paper and have it lined up on where we'll get it.
4. Hopefully move in the RV by December 20 or there about
5. Play, learn take small trips on weekends before the last week of February
6. Last week of February pull out and say bye
7. March 1, pull into Last Resort RV CG, in Rockport, TX
That will be a full month, then we'll see what's happening with mom here in NC and if all is ok we'll go straight to Illinois to see the kids and be with them during July and August.
Plans are never set in stone, but that's a rough draft for all those that have been wondering. I'm so excited. I still can't believe it. There's still the worry will it go well and the closing go ok by September 16.
Jim's goal and timeline, quit work March 1, 2010, he doesn't ask for much. Just a TV that works and a few books on his Kindall to read.
We went out to eat tonight to celebrate.
Time left to get on the Road 25 weeks 3 days
(Just a reminder, this date is so we can get to Rockport, TX to meet up with RV-Dreams gathering by March 1)
