This is what we're thinking, so hang on, it may change again tomorrow. We're hoping to get the RV, anytime, any day, but probably around March or when the weather warms up so we don't have to winterize it. We'll put it in the RV park east of us. We THINK we can afford it as long as as we're both working. We'll pay on it and live in it and the condo and drop the idea of the apartment. If there's work to be done on it, as there usually is for new units, we'll have the condo to live in while it's in the shop. We'll put the condo up for sale later next year summer and take trips thru the summer with the RV. Time off work will be a problem, but if we stay close to NC or SC we should be fine. It will give us good practice.
In March 2010, we'll have access to the 401K that Jim has and we'll hopefully have the condo sold by that time so with the two we should be able to pay off the RV and retire totally and be on our way. That's the plan as of today.
The fifth wheel we're considering is a fairly new unit just out in the last year, it's the Heartland Pinehurst. I'll give updates as we find out more about it. I have more time to get our stuff sold and the kids stuff will be taken to their place in May. We can work with the dealer in Virginia and take advantage of the low prices, maybe even have it specially built. The only thing we want is double pane windows, double refrigerator, and fireplace. (I know the weight is more, but I HATE being cold). The main reason we picked the Pinehurst extra closet in the bedroom. I already have planned what's going in it. Mainly linens.The rest of the day was relaxing, scanning photos and watching the last NASCAR race of the year. I can't believe racing season is over. I had my monthly massage so my back is back in place and muscles are like putty. I love those massages.
Right now we have to get through the cold winter. This week it's dropping to 20 degrees, and I don't want in any RV at that temperature. Jim has already emailed the dealer, checking on availability. Can you tell I'm anxious to get going?

Sounds like a great plan Dee. It makes alot of sense.. Its exciting to start shopping for the 5er and yet you can hang tight and hope the housing market recovers some...

Sounds like exactly what we did! Hey you can make it work just keep trying and it will all come together. Sherri and I plan some trips back to the NC SC area so maybe we can meet up at a campground there????
