50th Anniversary Party

(Avon Park, FL)  Hi 75 Lo 58 -- We knew there was a cold front coming, and it got here about 6:30 this morning. First high winds that rocked us, then a downpour that was so was hard we couldn’t see the RV next to us. It lasted only about five minutes, but it washed off the cars and RV’s. We are now cooler and still breezy but it sure feels good. No more humidity.

Thank you to those who left comments on last night's blog. We plan to continue posting daily, and there’s not many days that we don’t have something to say. But if we have days when we don't do anything, we'll tell it like it is.

I have some apples that are very ripe so I made some apple crisp. I also searched for and found some missing items that were hidden in some tubs. It’s great finding stuff. We both did some reading till it was time for a get together at the clubhouse.

They had a celebration for those who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year. There were five couples, and they took turns sitting in front of the audience while the hostess read the story of how they met, and the highlights of their marriage. Three of the couples were schoolmates before they married. After the ceremony we all enjoyed ice cream, cake, and punch.

The choir had a short performance, and they were very good.

It was a fun time. When the men were asked the secret of their long marriage, most of them said, "two words... yes dear!"

We came back home and watched the NASCAR race. While the race was on Jim did the laundry.

We have a question for everyone with an Android smart phone. Has anyone found a good app for tracking severe weather in their travels? We're searching for an app that gives an audible warning for sever weather alerts while on the road. We don't mind paying for it if it's a good one. Any ideas, either email us or leave a comment. Thanks in advance.

It was a wonderful cooler day. This next week will be busy.

If someone comes up with that app I sure would like to know about it. We haven't had much luck either and I just know there has to be one out there.

Jim is really good with "yes dear". He's learned it well.

Yes buy a NOAA weather radio.

This is the best weather radio to hear tornado warnings on.

We use http://weathercall.net/ that is based on an address that we update as we travel. It gives address specific warnings which has worked for us. They have a mobile app that is based on your phone location, http://weathercall.net/mobile/, we are going to try it out before we head out April 1st.

I'll be curious as to what you find out too. I looked at the weathercall.net/mobil and it looks like it might be a good possibility. I'd rather just have an alarm instead of a phone call/text though.
We use our NOAA weather radio all the time, but it's of no help when you're going down the road.

Wish I was healthy enough for my wife and I to travel. Great job on the blog. Thanks for sharing the link with the Warsaw Alumni Website
