Movie - Eclipse - Hurricane Harvey

Auburndale, FL (Hi 88  Lo  76)

It was time for another movie mainly because it had Daniel Craig the "James Bond" in the Bond movies as one of the stars. We loved Logan Lucky, it's a family movie and well done it's  about a heist at the Charlotte NASCAR track. We both gave this one a thumbs up.

The highlight of this week and all the talk was the full eclipse. We had friends from NC that went out to Casper, WY to see the total eclipse with less danger of storms and cloud coverage. There's a lot of photos online but we found a couple that were from the ISS (International Space Station) that really showed what it looked like from space.

The dark spot is the moon covering the earth.

One of the best videos of the whole eclipse.  (Click on the links).

The ISS was caught going in front of the eclipse. Here's the video:  it comes in from the right and goes from 1:00 to 8:00 angle.

One picture from a satellite.

Wednesday was the luncheon with the women  in the park. We had several new people this month and a great turnout of 41. There was a lot of laughing and meeting others that we don't normally see.

This is a neat picture from the Arches.

This weeks crocheting fun is playing card holders.

Friday hurricane Harvey came into Texas as a cat 4 hitting Rockport, TX.  We have several friends living in that area and prayers go out to them.

See you next week.

IKEA

Auburndale, FL   Hi 95  Lo 77

It's been a quiet week. I haven't moved much from the chair working on crocheting. It's too hot and humid to get outside.

We decided to go to IKEA this week. Jim wanted a desk and we found one along with a comfortable chair. That place is awesome. It's well laid out and even picking up what you want is easy. Everything is marked well. (Click on pictures to enlarge).

Jim took the whole next day putting together the desk and chair. It sure looks nice in the corner.

While Jim was working on the desk, I decided to reorganize my craft cabinet.

I labeled all the plastic boxes so I could find the craft I need.

It's been very hot and humid which bothers my breathing so I'm crocheting for the craft bazaar that's coming up in October. I have a good start, but still need to get a few more items made. Here's the angels and sloths.

We've had some gorgeous sunsets. Photos never do them justice but I'll end today's blog with the best.

Next blog will be the eclipse.

Three Day Trip to Georgia - Movie Time

Auburndale, FL  Hi 90  Lo 75

I still get hitch itch, (It's wanting to get on the road and go someplace.)   Saturday we went to Georgia to see Jim's cousin Adele and her husband Dick. It was only for the weekend and we came back Monday. (Click on pictures to enlarge).

They moved from Maryland to a community in Georgia to be closer to their kids.

The entry to the community.

The view out the back door is breathtaking. The sunsets are gorgeous, although I had to take their word of it. We didn't see one.

Another view without the storm.

Next door left

The clubhouse. They have a lot of activities to keep residents busy.

There's an outside pool

and also an indoor pool.

A large gym.

Just one of the many boat docks on Lake Oconee.

We had lunch in another area by lake Oconee.

We went to Greensboro, GA to a couple antique stores. Jim found an old army helmet.

Sunday isn't the day to find restaurants or stores open. It was surprising we found a couple places open. We had a great time playing Rummikub.

Thank you Dick and Adele for a great visit. We hope to see you again soon.

On the way home at a rest stop we saw this snake along the sidewalk. People were going past it without seeing it, but we weren't sure if it was dead or not. We didn't want to go find out.

We love going to the movies and since it's so hot out we got out of the house to go see one. This week was Atomic Blonde. If you're a James Bond fan, you'll love this movie. It's James Bond but a woman. It's not for the younger family member. There's lots of twists and turns which you don't expect.

Tuesday night we had a birthday party for Sandi and Alice who live in the community. It was a super time of laughing and gifts and eating.

I wanted another drone, something I can fly in the house. We found a neat one that's really little. I'm still learning to fly it, but sure is fun. I figured if I learn this one, the bigger one will be easier to handle.

I'm back to crocheting. I'll take pictures and post next week.  It's been a fun week, see you next Saturday.

Movie - Antique Mall

Auburndale, FL   Hi  91   Lo 75

It's back to the same routine. I miss my sis, but she has obligations in Missouri and she'll be back in Florida in October. It's too hot to get out much and I still have a lot of trouble breathing if the humidity is real high, so I can't play shuffleboard. We decided to go to a movie to get out of the house.  We had a surprise tropical storm come in on Monday so we went on Wednesday.

We were both quite disappointed in the movie Dunkirk. It was very hard to understand what was going on and the music was so loud you couldn't understand the dialogue. Jim says it was the theater with bad speakers, I think it's an overall bad movie.  He wants another chance to hear it when it comes on TV, we'll see. I suggest to read up on what the movie is about before going and go to a theater with a good sound system, it may help.

We happened to find an Antique mall near the theater and decided to check it out. It was huge and it was well organized. It took over an hour to walk through it. A lot of the items were things we sold or donated when we moved in the RV. We didn't get a thing, but sure is interesting.

Looking down the aisles both directions.

We have had a lot of rain and the frogs are now croaking all over the place. There's  tiny ones climbing our Florida room screen. They can sure make a loud noise for as little as they are.

It's good to have a hobby when you're inside most of the time. I had an order for the crochet tiny bears. They're barely an inch.

I've been getting calls for the October 21 craft bazaar in the park that I'm setting up. It's going well. I had 36 tables last year and right now I have 52.  It's going to be a big one this year and the advertising will start first week of September.

Next week we will have a lot to report, stay tuned.
